Galaxy apollo unable to access android market

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me

When I try to access the android market from my phone I am asked to sign into my google account. I enter the details and am told that my phone needs to connect to google data servers and this may take 5 mins.

The next message is "can't establish a reliable data connection tho the server"

This has been happening for the last 6 months! I am getting really fed up, Orange say it is nothing to do with them or the phone. I have tried talking to google but I end up just going round in circles.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?

Try clearing the market cache.

Do this by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications then look for Market and delete the cache and data.

Will ask you to log in again and hopefully should work.

If not as said above, factory reset the phone.
