Will Shania Twain's Come on Over album sales ever be beaten
There has been a lot of talk here recently about certain female artists album sales but one album puts it all in perspective. Come on over by Shania Twain which has sold well over 40 million copies, this is the biggest selling album by any female artist in the history of music, it's also the 11th biggest selling album of all time and only 5 million off 2nd place.
Its almost 14 years old now, and the nearest female artist is 7 million behind (Alanis Morissette) so will this ever be overtaken by another female artist or will this record stand for eternity. |

that is a tough one. it is a really great album too. maybe the question should be, will shania follow the album up with something anywhere near as successful? record sales are for the artist who set them to live up to. not other artists.
Up! was such a disappointment, to sound alike, no originality. it is all very well setting those record sales, but it is hard for artists to follow it up. it was the same for alanis. i hear shania is now doing some sort of reality tv? it is a true waste. |

It wil never ever be beaten, no one gets sales like that anymore.
I remember when SuBo was about to release her 1st album, people where saying that It could top Thriller for the worlds biggest selling album. In the end it sold 10.7 Million. Amy, Adele, Gaga will not even come close to Shania's sales. If Gaga's new album any good then 15 million max to biring it up to Norah Jones "Come Away With Me". |

Exactly, 15 million is the absolute highest any album could go now imo.

"Come Away With Me" was the last album to pass 15 Million sales (that was released this century).

Great album. With lower worldwide album sales now I doubt it can ever be beaten.

No. Since Bob Beamon, I generally refrain from saying something will never be done. But I really can't see anyone beating this.

Albums don't sell that much anymore so I doubt it will be beaten. However I know that the bodyguard soundtrack by Whitney Houston sold in excess of 40 million copies (44 million) worldwide.

I very much doubt those sales will ever be beaten. Records just don't sell that much anymore.
It's very much deserved though! Its a fantastic album (I love Up! aswell. Why the hell is it taking her so long to bring out more music?!? )

This album reminds me of my childhood. I'm pretty sure my mum played it non-stop for 2 years.
After a week of listening to it, I knew all of lyrics to every song. Mum found her copy recently, so no doubt we'll be hearing it again very soon! |

)She sure was a talent her then husband Mutt lange who was one of the biggest rock songwriters ever stated she was the most talented female songwriter he had ever met and who are we to argue with Mutt. I was maybe one of the earlist group of people in the UK to get into Shania, was into her when she released the woman in me album, a friend had to send it to me from the states, I was lucky as I got a first edition special edition version of the CD, it was superceeded by a rerelease very quick so not that many have it, was offered 70 quid for it by a record collector a few years back, but not selling it, it could be my pension nestegg ![]() If country had been a bit more popular in the UK the extra UK sales that would have been generated could have taken it very close to thriller. |

She suffered depression after her marraige breakup, she did tweet that she is recovering now and is starting to write music again. She is doing a reality style show on what she went through and how she is helping others who have the same problem.

Still, I don't think we'll see sales of that Calibur again unless there is another album which EVERYONE on the planet loves.

Do you have her first album Shania Twain, which is a proper country album? I love it.
