Can I just swap my SIM (3) into a Blackberry (o2) and go ...???

Thanks in advance for your help ...

My daughter has an absolute rubbish LG GW520
The contract on 3 is good - plenty of minutes, unlimited text and a 1MB of download a month.

The LG is nothing short of useless - had it back to 3 twice and they say that the phone is working properly and the software is up to date. When I Google it would seem everyone has the same problems with this piece of junk - repeated text messages, rubbish Browser, very slow ... etc etc

All the family are on 3 - all our contracts are up next year. My wife and I have iPhone 4's and our other daughter has a N71 - all fine.

My friend has a Blackberry (on 02) and has offered me it for my daughter to have.

Would it be easy to get this phone up and working for my daughter? Does the Blackberry carry any additional network charges? Will I be able to get 3's software onto the phone/will I need to? I realise I'd initially have to get the phone unlocked.

Thanks again

You need a Blackberry Data plan activated on the sim card. This is additional and will incur a monthly charge.

You can, if you wish load an OS released by 3; however all "carrier branding" [not startup screen] is done via Service Books which will deliver anything 3 specific once a blackberry data plan is activated.
