What brand and model TV do you own ? Make sure that you are plugging your headphones into a
output and not an input. If no headphone jack. then you would need a headphone amp. more info please. |

There is no point attempting to plug a pair of headphones into a line output on the TV. For two reasons.
The line out is not designed to drive headphones so is liable to be low level There is very often no control over volume Not to mention as you have discovered the line out has no effect on the built in speakers. To properly drive a pair of headphones you need a headphone amplifier. For example something like this http://cpc.farnell.com/_/bt928/headp...ier/dp/AV01574 And make sure what you are plugging into actually is an output. Most of the connectors on the back of the telly will be inputs which are no good to you. If they are in a block with video sockets then more likely to be inputs. |

i have an LG 32 inch LED. its around 3-4 years old, i dont know the model number.
its funny , i only got the HOSA CFR-210 Stereo Female Mini to 2 RCA Male Plug , as others had stated they had success with it without an ampilier. Would the amplifier go straight into the tv? how do i know which are input and output? thanks again |

The model number of the telly will be on a label on the back.
The audio outputs will be clearly marked as such. Either labelled Audio Out or Line Out as the two most common. Also they will be a pair of red and white phono sockets on their own. On most TVs the sockets are grouped together with a box drawn round them. If the box contains more than just a red and white pair, most commonly a single yellow or three others coloured red green and blue, then they are most likely to be inputs. A single pair of red and white sockets are most likely to be outputs. But knowing the exact model number will help. Unless you still have the manual

If you have a hi-fi amp and a VCR you could do what I do and connect the line out on the VCR into the line in on one of the amp channels. I assume the same holds tru for DVD Recorders and PVRs
