Went away for a few days recently and came back and the box had stopped recording, or rather didnt record anything after we left. And now ive noticed it hasnt recorded anything on `series record` in the last couple of days since we've been back...

Any tips?

I had this the other day too. The box should housekeep over night and update the epg, however the 'failing to update' snag has reappeared recently and you probably will find your schedule a couple or so days out of date.

perform a freesat retune and then when the option to save appears press exit on the remote and decline the next prompt.
