Hi,

I'm new to the forum so hope this is in the right place!

I've just bought a Technisat HDFS box after reading good reviews of it but have run into a couple of problems with it. Firstly, it didn't install correctly at first and I had no sound on iPlayer. I called the Technisat helpline and they suggested resetting to factory specs and starting again. That cured the sound problem but then the box started freezing and nothing would work but pulling the power lead out.

I went to the website and saw there was a new software update available so I thought that might help. I loaded it with a USB stick and it appeared to update fine. However, when the box reset itself after the update, it got as far as the "welcome" screen and then locked up. It won't get past that point and is now unusable! I have emailed Technisat but haven't had a reply yet.

Does anyone know how to get this thing working again? I have tried a factory reset a couple of times but no luck!

Thanks,

Dave

Tricky to say which forum this should be in as it is somewhere between freesat and freesat+

Re the software, the over-the-air version is more up to date than the version on their website so loading it may have been a bad move and may be the cause of the new problem.

Does it have a recovery mode?

See http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...0&postcount=30 which may help?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I've tried "flash reset" as described in the link and have also had a reply from Techinsat - they also suggest a flash reset as the answer to the problem. However, I have tried this many time now & it doesn't work! I've emailed them again to see if they can come up with a solution...

I wonder if there's a hardware problem with the box. I don't think is installed & setup correctly when I first used it as I had no sound on iPlayer. Technisat's helpline suggested a flash reset then and that cured that problem but then the box started freezing - two or three times within the space of about 15 minutes. Only unplugging it would get it working again.

I wait to see if Technisat can come up with another idea.

thanks,

Dave

Depending upon where you bought it, a replacement from your retailer may be easier and quicker.
