Your Favourite Concert Moment?
Hey Y'all!
![]() Josh Pinder posted clips from Madonna's Confessions Tour in my ''Queen Of Pop'' Thread, and it got me thinking - what are DS's favourite concert moments, out of what you've attended or even just seen on YouTube? A couple of my choices; U2 - Disco Lemon: You know the one. No explanation needed. If you haven't seen it, you're a Pop Culture Shithead.Link. Britney Spears - The Waterfall: At the end of her Dream Within A Dream Tour, she performed ...Baby One More Time under an onstage waterfall, in what I consider one of the greatest ever moments in any Pop concert.Link. |

Good idea for a thread!
![]() Mine is probably when I saw Lady Gaga, and she performed Bad Romance as the encore. I've never seen a bunch of people go that crazy before! It was pretty immense!! |

Madonna - Open Your Heart at the Blond Ambition Tour - It was one of Madonnas best tours and one of her best performances ever imo!
The disco ball intro performance of Future Lovers at The Confessions Tour was amazing as well and probably the best tour intro ever!!! Britney Spears - The performance of I'm A Slave 4 U at the Dream WIthin A Dream tour was so good! The dancing was amazing! The intro to the Onyx Hotel with Toxic was just so good and the dance routine was so good! |

Best concert moments......erm let's see......
Agreed intro to both confessions tour and reinvention tour were amazing.......but it was the expectation minutes before...the excitement in the air was electrifying and it just carried into the intro performance Walking across a festival grounds and as the sun was setting...heard David Gray performing Babylon.... New years eve performance seeing kylie....homecoming showgirl... The standing applause was very emotional Seeing radiohead for the first time...didn't know much about them ....it was at festival ..at the time of release of the bends...and their bass just made my heart thudder. ...... Then 1 week later bumping into Thom in a wine shop..... Proposal at robbie gig during angels....I said no because it was too cheesy .....he proposed again on holiday lol Chris Martin singing to me at their last tour...he was standing next to me singing....bizarre ...then all I remember was red butterflies Tori Amos.... I persuaded my friends to go with me...and being good friends they went along.....Tori was angry and gyrating.....my friends were shocked...I loved it very emotional ...... |

Bruce Springsteen and the E street band at Wembley Stadium, I was only young then but that concert will never be beaten and will stick in my mind forever, over 3.5 hours.
The greatest live performer ever. |

Catching a drum stick at an Ultravox concert in about 82.
That moment in Wont get fooled again after the quiet build up when all the lights at the back of the stage came on and blinded us with Roger screaming. AMAZING When Phil Collins said the words "Suppers Ready" in 82/83 and they did the whole song. My first concert, UB40 in 1980 was obviously brilliant. Singing along to Everybody Hurts with REM at Hyde Park in 2005. Getting in stage with The Specials in 81. So many more....... |

Mon 29th May 2006, David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall.
Wonderful show, complete with Crosby & Nash, then at the end, this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K499HpGF46E There had been no leaks that he was appearing, so a complete shock. Then they did Comfortably Numb too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM0Pl80Zf00 On the DVD you see the rehearsal in the afternoon when Bowie sang CN "straight", but in the show he put the Bowie twist on it! |

I been to a lot big concerts, including a few at the old Wembley Stadium such as Madonna, Freddie Tribute, MJ, but the one that IMO stands head and shoulders above them all was the Jean Michel Jarre - Destination Docklands concert in 1988. The whole concert was epic, with approx 125,000 there on the night I attended, and the best moment was probably seeing him play the laser harp live. Oh and this was one of his smaller scale concerts, his record is 3.5 million
at a Moscow concert in 1997.

Future Lovers/I Feel Love - Madonna, The Confessions Tour Express Yourself/Open Your Heart intro (Pop Culture history made!) - Madonna, The Blonde Ambition Tour Keep It Together/Family Affair (influenced by A Clockwork Orange staging) - Madonna, Blonde Ambition Tour Impressive Instant - Madonna, Dont Tell Me Promo Concert Brixton Academy (and Drowned World Tour of course) & Erotica & Justify My Love - Madonna, The girlie Show World Tour ( the seductive imagery and introduction...very catwoman, very alluring and very simplistic. and JML, The very Victorian era stylings, the arty overlook....VERY powerful....the reason why none can touch her! Dirrty (the entire stage....choreo....like a Cabaret/Cirus routine) - Xtina, Back To Basics World Tour Trouble/guitar Man - Elvis, 1968 Comeback Concert (Trouble notably and influence on Britneys 07 VMA) its staging, the delivery, the SEX! just a MUST SEE! |

Metallica at Marlay Park in Dublin playing 'Whiskey In The Jar'
Seeing my favourite band (Guns N' Roses) live in Belfast, being fortunate that they arrived on-time and Axl was in a great mood! Front row of a very small Gogol Bordello concert, shook hands with all the band! |

Favourite Moment I think would be the opening of the Circus Tour by Britney, the way they built up the atmosphere was brilliant and the moment she appeared on stage for the first time, unforgettable. Also P!nk when she was first doing the trapeze act during the I'm Not Dead Tour, just being completely shocked by it being so amazing, much better than the Glitter in the Air performance she used in the Funhouse tour, when she swung out over the crowd with the confetti falling was just brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGe0GvtQZGQ I actually prefer Glitter in the Air as a song over Get The Party Started, but I find this just more exciting and LOVE the Sweet Dreams remix, reminds me of when I started going clubbing and the remix was ALWAYS played and still gets a regular play on my iPod. |

Christina's Back to basics tour - Hurt performance. The song is soo meaningful to me and hearing Xtina sing it LIVE. Amazing! On DVD - Stripped tour - Dirrty live in the UK. What can i say - epitomises everything i loved about the Stripped era http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir2YK0M3Yzk And Beyonce - Get me bodied. One of my fave songs by her and such a fun dance song. She performed it well on her tour. At one point i knew all the dance moves lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCn6kahWd5M |

Seeing Neil Young at Hammersmith Apollo in 2003 with Noel and Liam Gallagher sitting in the two seats directly behind me and my gf and listening to Liam go on about getting his MOT done for his car while NY sang. I usually would tell someone to "shut the f*ck up"...but not Liam.

Being at Wembley Stadium for the Foo Fighters show in 2008 was something special. For the encore, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones (from Led Zep) came out and did a couple of songs with them (Rock & Roll, and Ramble On, two of my top 5 Led Zep songs!). Absolutely incredible.
And a band you've likely not heard of, but still a fantastic experience. When I went to see The Cat Empire (Australian ska/pop/jazz/funk band) at the Shepherds Bush Empire, it was 2 days after the death of Michael Jackson. I was/am a huge Jacko fan. So imagine my surprise when in the middle of one of their traditional 10 minute jam sessions, they broke into an absolutely amazing version of Billie Jean. Even though there were only 2000 people in that building, everyone just exploded and sung along. The amount of noise sounded more like 20,000 people! |

Singing along with Madonna to Into the Groove and Borderline in Paris during her Sticky & Sweet tour. I was very near the front and I'm sure she noticed me, and that I'm not just wishful thinking.
Britney Spears performing Everytime during the Circus tour in London, and when she spoke to the audience before the song. I still can't believe I was in the same room as her! Leona Lewis waving directly at me during Bleeding Love on her Labyrinth tour. I can't believe she not only noticed me waving at her like a nutter, but responded. Lovely, lovely lass. |
