iPhone 4 unresponsive home button

Hey

I have a recent issue with my almost 1 year old iPhone 4. Sometimes the home button refuses to work for maybe 10 mins and then all of a sudden works again. Anyone else had this ?

Do you reckon it's hardware or software based?

Thanks

No idea what the issue is, but if you take it to an Apple store, they may well swap it for you. A friend had an issue with her button, she booked a Genius appt at the Apple Store and they swapped it for a new one.

Sounds like it's hardware, probably a loose connection. If it's less than a year old, I wouldn't hesitate to take it straight to Apple for a swap. If it's more than a year old, repair shouldn't cost much at all, it won't require any new parts, just a quick open and close job.

Yeah it's under a year old, also have AppleCare which gives me an extra year.

Will book an appointment then!

It does sound like a hardware issue and don't think there are any Iphone 4 models in the UK unless they are imported over 12 months old yet are there?

Even imported ones would still be under 12 months. It was released in the US same time as here

OP yeah get it down to apple and they will swap out no problem

Could be a software problem with some process hogging resources. Try power-cycling it.

Dust under the button seemingly.

Google it it's common with the old 3G's too.

I took mine back but the guy said you have to push right in the centre. Maybe I'm too use to my Ipad.

Seems there is quite a few Iphone 4 bugs so far I've had black screen, stiff button and the constant vibrate so had to hold both buttons to power it back on.

Lucky them.

I took mine back and the guy reckoned it was fine. I could have seen somebody technical about it but never bothered.
