I have a DVD player with an optical output and the Sky + box which also has the optical output. My amp has one coaxial input and one optical input.

I have bought an optical to coaxial converter which takes an optical signal and converts it to coaxial. This is working perfectly. However when I use the regular optical to optical connection I get no Dolby Digital signal.

I have connect both the DVD player and Sky + via the coaxial input on the amp and they are both sending the Dolby Digital signal correctly.

Does anyone know if you have to set something specifically for the optical input, or is the amp faulty?

Not that anyone cares but I eventually managed to figure out what was happening.

There is a black button on the black surround part of the display. If it is anyway dark you will not notice it. Anyway this button is for the input mode and when you press it you can choose between Analog, Auto In or Optical. Once Auto In or Optical was selected the Dolby Digital from the Sky + came through loud and clear.

Heh, I do care, just didn't know the answer to your question. Glad you got it sorted though.
