Survival-Does it seem different now we have the New Series?

Thinking about Survival after I put it as my fave 7th Doctor story, I thought about that whole final 'tea getting cold scene.' and it still makes me feel sad when I watch it(No, I don't randomly burst into tears!), though not as much as it used to now that we have the TV Movie and the New Series to follow.

I'm open to correction here, but I possibly think Survival was released onto video before the TV movie was made. Either that or I watched a recording of it on UK Gold. Either way, I used to watch that last scene and really thought it had impact as at the time it seemed Doctor Who had gone forever and all we had to watch was the spin-off made-to-video stuff featuring Liz Shaw or Sarah-Jane Smith. Or even indirect stuff like The Airzone Solution Etc.

I watch it now and it still has that sad feel to the final scene as The 7th Doctor and Ace walk away, but there is still something about it and Survival in general, the whole end of Classic series feel to it that gets me everytime and I wonder how everyone else feels when they watch it now? Does it have less impact for you now that you know there's still loads of Who to follow or do you still feel a certain pathos towards it?

I saw Survival recently, and I would say it still has an ending with an impact. The significance of the end of the original run of the programme and the story itself is quite an engaging one emotionally as well. Also, the last season was excellent and feel it was a shame there was not more stories like these to follow.

What I actually thought to myself when I watched the end scene when they walk off is - was it really 15 years until Rose and the new series came around.
Maybe there is less impact now the new series is on, but I still appreciate and are interested in how the final run of stories went.
