Websites like hungryhouse.co.uk or justeat.co.uk

If so what were your experiences?

I've used justeat. It was fine. I paid in cash so not sure about the pros or cons of using a card.

Said it would take 45mins but came in around 15mins.

I used justeat once - good choice of takeaways. I think I did it because I needed to pay by card and my favourite indian only take card orders through that site.

It was fine. I did notice that the prices were a bit higher than usual. And 50p charge for paying by card, which I wasn't really overjoyed about.

I have never used the sites to pay, but sometimes if a menu is quite old I will check just-eat to make sure of the prices.

The site is pretty useless around here because there is not a lot of restaurants that use the site so there isn't much choice - and the one takeaway place that I use, stopped using just-eat (possibly because no one used it?)

I've used Justeat, worked well and the food turned up quickly. To be fair the takeaway was only about a 2 minute drive from my house so I wasn't that surprised.

JustEat is amazing, I love the idea of not having to repeat everything down the phone a thousand times, and the easy customisation of specifics. Also, paying by card is really handy.

One time I don't use it is near closing time, been burnt a few times by getting charged but the place closing before I got the food. In that case I use JustEat for the menu and Google the phone number and call them myself.

I've never used to order but I always use it to read the menu's.

I didn't know you could still pay cash after ordering on the site, to be honest that is one of the things that stops me ordering directly off the website as I always thought you had to pay by card.

Per my other post, I'm wondering if SPAM fritters are on the menu.

Though ordering food from Oz to be sent to me in the south of the UK may mean it arrives a tad cold....

I only use just-eat to look at the menus of the takeaway place, I then phone up and order that way - I am just not that confident in the takeaway places that use just-eat around here, I am sure if I ordered and paid they would say they never received the order or payment. Always better to have the order before paying for it

Probably get to my house quicker than our local takeaway they are completely useless when it comes to delivery never received even luke warm food from them. If I want to order from them I have to drive down myself

I'm lucky where I am, I have a chippy, two Chineses, two Indians, two pizza places and a kebab shop within a few minutes walk! Saying that, I rarely get a takeaway, just on occasion as a bit of a treat.

I use Just eat but have also used Hungryhouse & not had any problems with either. The only thing I have noitced is that not only do they charge for using your card but they charge delivery which the actual takeaway may not if ordered over the phone.
One of our local chinese takeaways is leaving once their contract is up as they say customers are getting ripped off but when I am too tired to cook & don't have any cash in the house I don't mind paying that bit extra to be able to use my card.

Out of curiousity, I typed in my postcode and only 3 places came up. One wasn't even local but in Canterbury.

Hungry house had two Indians.

Yes, use them all the time. Well, I use them when I'm ordering out, maybe once every couple of weeks.
Very easy to use and whether you get decent service or food is up to whoever you've ordered from. I've had good and some not so good - you learn which to frequent, much as you do in the 'real' world.

One of the best ones I had was at 3am on a monday night. Late coming back from work and felt like I needed the dirtiest takeout. So I ordered a large doner in naan bread. It came within 20 minutes and was the size of a house! Clearly, ordering at that time meant they were using up what they had left - I didn't care, I had my saturated fat laden 'meat' all wrapped up in some very non-complex carbs. Lovely.

The main plus point for me is the ability to pay by card. I rarely carry much cash around with me and it also gets rid of the awkward moment at the door when the delivery driver is counting out the change clearly waiting for you to say "oh just keep that mate" (which doesn't happen on my watch!).

Started using JustEat a couple of months ago. Always had a good experience with it. Also handy paying by card when you come in from a night out with not much cash left. Seems to come faster when you order it online as well.

^ I've never used my card yet but have ordered via justeast a few times and each time although it says 45minutes earliest delivery my order has came before that.

Last week I ordered a pizza and it came in about 15 minutes very impressive.

Never used Justeat or Hungryhouse as neither have any take aways that deliver to where I live (bit out in the sticks)

However, Domino's are a few miles away and I've used them a few times and my local chinese has their own website which I've often used for orders

Our local curry take away place had its own online ordering service which looked like a great idea until we tried it and after an hour still had no food. I rang them to discover that the young bloke who is good with the computer wasn't working that night and so nobody had switched the machine on so my order would have gone unread until the next day!

I'm surprised with that. It seems like a shoddy setup.
Just-Eat is not fully automated. When you order the takeaway has to accept and confirm your order.
