More out of curiosity than anything but how scary would you rate these opening episodes seeing as we have been told time and time again by several crew members that this series will be the scariest.

They're showing them at 6 in the evening. That's how "scary" they are.

The BBC's schelduling times* have nothing to do with the actual content of the episode. Perhaps if you search up some fan reports and press reviews before taking another dig at the new series, hmm?

*I personally think the time is rather daft, what I'll be home so I can't complain. :P

There is nothing you can show at 7 or even 8pm you can't show at 6pm. Fact.

In relation to the OP, not seen it myself, and avoiding spoilers, but peeps that have seen do seem to be saying it's pretty freaky.

So what (I know Im going to condradict myself here with a previous post I wrote but I have been thinking about it) scary doesn't mean jump out of your seat moments, Blink is classed as a scary episode to a lot of people. Moffat uses psychological scariness which most of the time is a hell of a lot scarier than in your face horror. The silents look creepy, we have no idea on there motive yet however just looking at the trailers it is obvious this will be a darker tone. The later Harry Potter movies are usually placed on at about 5 on ITV sometimes and mostly all of them have moments that scare adults so it doesn't matter what time it is on, it all depends on the method used by the creators to scare the audience.

see for me psychological horror is a lot more effective than out and out gore...something like Midnight for example would freak me out way more than a gore feast like Saw...

I agree with this post. I just find things like Saw and Friday the 13th hilarious! But things like Paranormal Activity freaked me out big time. Couldn't sleep without the light on for days! Also the scene in Forest of the Dead with Miss Evangelistas face actually gave me a nightmare! God what a wuss!!!

Blair Witch Project proper freaked me out as well, and I remember as a kid Ghost Watch on BBC One...

Lol, I haven't seen PA yet, but the trailers make it seem docile! Midnight comes across as scarier. Though, maybe once I've seen it, I'll eat my words... D:

The hinted at idea of the The Silence is freaky enough already

Spoiler
i.e. They're everywhere already... you just can't always see them

I think little Simon is getting confused about the watershed here in the UK.

There is no reason that something scary cannot be shown pre-watershed.
