The Ratings Thread (Part 19)
Quote:
I reckon the rating for BGT will be one of the more eagerly awaited this year. Cowelless, will it be rudderless? Judges though mean less on BGT-its more inclined towards the ridiculous oddities that turn up-the judges assume a god like status on XF, its not the same here.
I will be surprised if BGT is sub 10 million. The BBC's line up is built like a house of cards, and the merest breath of wind is enough to knock it of its perch and BGT is like a typhoon. Its very difficult to deal with 90 minutes of blockbuster though I think the second episode rating of BGT will give us a clearer indication of where the reality bandwagon stands. As for SYTYCD, surely its only dance die hards that are going to follow it. Its about as far removed from SCD as its possible to be, trying to find an audience that isnt there, and without an elimination who is going to bother? Im sure the Daily Mail will be watching the figures closely. I saw enough of SIYC to know I wont be tuning in again, but its far more Saturday night than SYTYCD appears to be-the latter I always get the feeling I should have revised before watching. Bring Back Seasde Special! |

New thread!
Britain's Got Talent didn't appear rudderless from the first episode - certainly the panel appeared to be improved. Talent wise it was weak but as long as there are 10 reasonable acts there the final should be ok.

Does anyone else think in steed of just calling it The Ratings Thread (Part 19) they could have one for each month in steed?
Or would this not work? So it could be closed at the end of May. |

The talent was very weak in the first episodes of both BGT and The X Factor last year before picking up as the auditions went on so that shouldn't be a problem. In fact, only one contestant from last year's X Factor launch made the final 16 and that was Katie Wassiel, so it should improve. The judges were great though so even though the talent was weak I still really enjoyed it.

We seem to have been missing our archive for the last couple of parts which is always really useful for hunting out old ratings. So thought I'd make myself useful with a bit of housekeeping.

Yes, with the Syco shows the launch always seems to be reasonably weak then picks up. I think tonight was more about establishing the new panel - for me, that worked.

![]() ![]() I'm sure we've had this discussion in the past but it's irritating that the biggest part of the overall ratings thread is unable to read. |

The Mirror saying that Kimberley Walsh is more than likely going to be the new host of the Xtra Factor - hopefully based on some form of presenting talent rather than just being one of Cheryl Cole's mates. http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/tv/ne...medium=twitter Also XF related Peter Fincham has told the Mirror that Cowell will not be a 'weekly judge' on this years show. Quote:
We have been in constant negotiations with Simon about ways in which we can move things forward and help the X Factor evolve. http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/...5875-23066483/
We have been aware that his on-screen involvement in this series will not be as great as previous years for months now. It is something that we are completely comfortable with. We are talking to him about ways he can have an on-screen presence later in the show. He will not be a weekly judge, but he will be an enormous presence backstage as always. |

Someone help me out here, im scared to ask ths in the sports forum
You have two Manchester sports teams, playing in the same game, yet they play the game in London? why not save everyone, teams & fans the cost of the petrol, and play it in Manchester? fans can come to the stadinums on their bikes. I dont really get football. |

I dont really get football. It changed a few years ago, after the new Wembley opened. Previously FA Cup Semi Finals were played at another neutral venue, and just the final at was played at Wembley. |

You also have another two north west teams playing at Wembley tomorrow.
It's all about the FA paying for Wembley Stadium. Before it reopened semi-finals were played at neutral stadiums. At least playing at Wembley today meant that the Man U fans were travelling to a stadium near to where they live. |

Money. The FA overspent on the new Wembley so now they need to make as much money on it as possble to make a profit.

wasnt that like in 2000?

Leicester have a nice stadium but it's slightly on the small side for an all Manchester derby. If they were to have it away from Manchester they'd probably go for Birmingham (Villa Park) which often held FA Cup semi finals before they all went to Wembley. |

Would I be right in thinking that the Millenium Stadinum opened in 2000, in Cardiff? I know a few Doctor Who episodes have been filmed there.
When you think about it, it was very smart of them to know to build it, years before Doctor Who was bought back. |

I think when Doctor Who looked around for a suitable venue the Millennium Stadium stood out. You never know, if it wasn't for that stadium the programme may have it's base somewhere else. |
