I described it the other week as a unique ITV variation on the copycat theme - "a cut and shut copycat", being bits of WDYTYA and Surprise Surprise welded together.

I think one of those sources has made a mistake, the 9pm BBC 2 programme wasn't available on HD, the BBC Three Eurovision semi final was shown from 8-10pm on BBC HD. Then Easterners followed.

Thanks. Yep, just checked- Shadow Line definitely wasn't shown on BBC HD at 9pm. Are you definitely sure that it was EastEnders shown on BBC HD at 10pm? The BBC HD schedule says Psychoville was shown and I'm pretty sure Scott Mills (who was narrating Eurovision) said Psychoville was going to be shown on BBCHD next, although he might've been wrong.

Here's the demographic information for those two programmes: http://i53.tinypic.com/14bnasw.jpg

You must've done a typo for the second programme's date because it's 14th May tomorrow! But I checked on the BBC3 schedule website and it said that Misbehaving Mums to Be had an episode on 5th May so I've put the demo info for that episode into the table.

I recorded Psychoville at 10pm on BBC HD. Just checked and it was on.

Thew Shadow Line was on in HD at 11pm last night.

Do people think those ratings for Long Lost Family are good enough for a recommission? I do hope so because I've loved the series. I end up sobbing through every episode LOL

Looks like The Shadow Line losing viewers boosted BBC1 and ITV1 at 9pm a little bit. That's quite a big drop for The Shadow Line if you think about it- it's unusual for a new drama on the Beeb to drop more than 30% for episode 2. Corrie rated low last night - even by Thursday standards, a 31.9% share is lower than what it usually gets. Bad night for Channel 4 to only had a 4.2% primetime share- I was expecting half a million more for A Very Dangerous Doctor. Channel 5's new Thursday lineup largely flopped. Emergency Bikers was getting about 1m in its old slot, so yesterday's rating is well down on how it usually was doing. Extreme Fishing did alright - in line with previous ratings for the show. But as I said before, I think C5 will be very disappointed with how Impossible started, and there's 5 more episodes to go too.

Yeah, definitely good enough for a recommission. It's quite rare on ITV for a factual format to get 4m+ for more than 3 episodes and hold steady. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap The Biggest Loser and ask Davina to host more episodes of LLF, extending the next series to 8-10 episodes.

I'd think they will keep both. Both were 4m bankers so more than good enough given their cost to make

Oh dear at the Ch5 lineup-they tried something new and it absolutely tanked. It's been good for them to try out new entertainment formats but absolutely nothing has worked: Don't Stop Believing, Heads or Tails, JLC, Josie & now Impossible. Also I don't really understand why Emergency Bikers was so low.

Good for LLF which is almost certain to get a recomission and good for Davina to have a new show. Pretty low for the 8pm soap hour though. Fantastic for Celebrity Juice which just doesn't seem to be losing momentum at all.

I agree, but I guess 4m for primetime 9pm slots post Corrie hardly merits the word "banker" - more a Co-op divi or Post Office savings account...

Have to admit Long Lost Family is doing well, even considering the quite crap Corrie lead-in. Not crap, but not as big as it should really be.

Bad rating for a Very Dangerous Doctor, under the 1m mark for C4 and behind C5 in the 9pm slot. Very poor start for Impossible. Given the promotion, idents etc, Channel 5 must've hoping for something like 1m if not more. I don't think they've rated as low as that at 10pm since Heads or Tails about a year ago.”

Thought I'd taped Impossible but turns out I hadn't, so checked the listings for a repeat and surprised to find out there isn't on on C5 or 5*, which is quite rare for a C5 show, and surely not the way nowadays to build an audience, regardless of whether it might be available on demand.

LOL - and Estonia would still beat England too!

Eurovision is what it is - generally much better than the British media give it credit for, but not as serious as the British media like to think the rest of Europe treat it. As for the voting - the 50/50 thing ultimately makes no difference to who wins and was only bought in when the BBC couldn't understand why an absolutely awful song by Andy Abrahams (another X Factor loser) came last and Terry Wogan threw a strop. IMO they should simplify the voting so all viewers can vote in all rounds, but only countries performing get their own vote, with the other countries votes merged to produce a "Rest of Europe" result worth the same as one country.

Also worth noting the rest of Europe has no issue with SMS voting, four years after it was effectively banned on UK TV.

Awake (formerly, REM)”

That's a bit of bad news for the Beeb, if that turns out to be a success. Jason Isaac stars in that, who's also the main actor in new BBC1 drama series 'Case Histories'. If 'Awake' is a hit, Isaacs won't be coming back to the UK to film anymore episodes of Case Histories.

“Sunday Night Football???”

How comes there's a question mark after Sunday Night Football? Have the rights to the next season not be sold yet? NBC needs to keep that as it's usually the only thing which rates well for them (well, maybe apart from The Office and now The Voice!)

Some dates for next May:

5th May - FA Cup Final (at 5.15pm)
12/13th May - Final weekend of Premier League
19th May - Champions League Final (not confirmed I don't think, but by default it must be)
26th May - Eurovision

I guess that means BGT will run 28th May - 2nd June, as although the Bank Holidays are a week later (and two of them due to the Jubilee), Euro 2012 kicks of on 8th June.

Interesting the FA have opted to move the FA Cup to 5.15pm rather than 7.45pm - I guess ITV didn't want it taking their full Saturday night schedule. Premier League games will kick off at 3pm.

I thought the FA refused the 7.45pm request. Still at least 5.15 is more realistic than 3pm nowadays given the weather in May

And in other ITV Sport news, Steve Rider will be back to front the Rugby World Cup, with Craig Doyle the secondary presenter and Martin Bayfield having a role based in the England camp.

"Realistic"?

It's been a Saturday 3pm fixture for all of time, and that's just where it should stay.

Is nothing sacred?

Good grief, discussing the scheduling of next year's BGT already!

What if it gets axed - or Hasselhoff defects?

One thing I will say (without mentioning BGT!) is that from about May to August, scheduling consistency will fly out the window.

And in the "old days" there was no set of Premier League games on the same day either, but things have already changed and if the FA Cup doesnt it will die where it stands - "sacred" slot or not.

The best news is the BBC is unlikely to bid for the rights when they are next due!

I think they ought to hold onto both and put TBL on Thursdays in that slot. It would be good to have 2 returning factual series at 9pm. I agree that they'll probably extend LLF.

I don't quite understand the in's and out's but basically, the players (all of them) are on strike. It will be resolved, but it's expected that the season will be delayed at least a couple of weeks.
