I think ITV have got an unfair rap as regards the FA Cup. They seem to be held to a higher mark than other channels when the criticism is being handed out. But the prospect of the bland & smug BBC coverage coming back would only appeal to the pipes & slippers brigade (and their wannabes)

It's unlikely that many who had it series linked on BBC HD watched it last night, so it should get a boost in the officials.

But as we know the BBC HD ratings are nonsense, so it will only register about 40k in the officials!!

And once again, it will prove to be pretty popular with good ratings (as it does every year, despite its shortcomings, both real and otherwise).

It's something like the combined reach of CNNI and CNN/US that he keeps quoting. Obviously the exact figures for his show will never be known as there is no record of CNNI viewing figures. But clearly they certainly won't be anything like what he keeps quoting

The soaps all seem to be doing their normal summer low thing, but not too low, and the BBC 3 EE repeats continues to preform above average.

I see Scott & Bailey is going out at 9pm on Sunday nights from 29th May. I thought it might get Thursday night.

Available in about seven and a half million homes (not including Freeview) , so a potential reach of circa 17m people yet only 9.5 million of them tuned in for three minutes or more in a whole quarter. Unbelievable.

I thought the Father Ted episode Song for Europe had a element of truth that it was getting too expensive to host Eurovision so they deliberately sent a mediocre entry to prevent hosting it again.

You only need to look on a football supporters' messageboard to see the reaction when news comes in of the Beeb losing football rights to ITV.

Or even whenever ITV broadcasts some football. Or fans chanting "ITV are effing shit" on the terraces when ITV cover a match. I don't ever recall hearing that for a BBC covered game.

That's the view of real people, real fans. Not Islington media-types.

And rightly, the utterly rubbish BBC Football League Show comes in for its fair share of criticism.

considering the euro press buzz around them in Germany, I dont think thats a problem they will have some how. They are getting massive press, tv and internet coverage across all of europe right now

LOL, The Eurovision is hardly a BBC1 show, yet only the other week, you were saying the Royal Wedding was!

Not true. BARB figures for other channels show high percentages of HD viewing.

It's just BBC HD that suffers and to a lesser extent ITV1 HD.

Last week on Discovery the top show had a 37% HD share.

Even mega events like the Royal Wedding or the World Cup didn't get figures like that, despite BBC HD being in twice as many homes as pay HD.

How well did McFly On The Wall for for 5* ? I don't know if it was just me but it seems to be well made, compared the usual standard for these types of programmes.

How much more is the FA Cup going to be devalued? I suppose the year after this it will be moved to 7.45 pm on a Monday night to appease Sky. Having matches before the FA Cup to please Sky this year is bad enough, but next year even the traditional kick off time has been moved.

I dont even know what the EPG is for BBC HD on cable. Not unbelievable at all, and I work in television research.
