I've made the prediction based on the audience drop-off these stripped ITV dramas have experienced in recent years. The three most recent ones being:

Collision: -16%
Above Suspicion: -20%
Father & Son: -21%

So if we assume it drops about ~20% (in line with those other dramas), it'd be just under 4.5m which is what I predicted on the RPG. Even a 10% drop-off, which is the very least it'll fall by, would put it at 4.8m (so not too far away from that 4.5m mark). These Mon/Tue two-parters traditionally don't hold up so well on ITV1 for their second parts, dropping quite a bit. Father & Son, incidentally, began with exactly the same Monday figure as Reckoning and went up against Luther on the Tuesday which was performing similarly to Candy Cabs, if not worse, and it ended up with 4.24m for part 2 so I can see the similarities there. I'm not "doing a Robbie" and deliberately under-predicting, this is what I genuinely think it'll get, especially as in last night's episode breakdown the audience dropped off quite a bit according to reports (it was below 4.5m exc. HD in the last 15 mins).

EastEnders performed brilliantly once agin, though Coronation Street and Emmerdale did well. They look low thanks to EastEnders but they performed strongly all the same.

Pretty good for The Reckoning but Motorcop Cops held up for filler.

Wasn't Brookside aired in a similar slot in its dog days? Mind you it had become so bad in its last 12 months it should have been shown at 3 am.

For anyone that doesn't go into the Broadcasting forum, the chances of F1 leaving the BBC appear to be greater, Sky News have one of their famed exclusives that News Corporation is thinking of taking over Formula One. If such a deal happens a lot of TV rights changes will probably occur.

RIP Elisabeth Sladen.

In keeping the sad news related to ratings, apparently three episodes of the next series of the Sarah Jane Adventures have been filmed; I'm not sure about the other three episodes. There should be a dedication before or after Doctor Who on Saturday.

I wonder if they'll end the series or continue it without Lis Sladen. If they were me, I would end it with the already filmed episodes.

Well there's an almighty number of massive "ifs" in that over-excited little Sky News piece.

Sarah Jane, my feeling is that they should use the footage recorded for one story, the story of her last few months, and hope the footage is there to give her a good end, obviously it would be awesome to see both Ten & Eleven Doctors involved some how, that would make it really specail, but that isnt as easily done as my typing it.

Not sure if this has been reported already but it seems BBC HD are dropping the 10pm EE repeat after April 29th. Good decision.

Certainly not if we're talking about people watching the whole event or even a significant part of it (say 15 minutes minimum).

Of course if we're talking about seeing 2 minutes on a news programme then I guess it could be over a billion.

Exactly.People are enjoying the sun and with it being the Easter Holidays aswell people are going to the beach/daytrips ect

Good soap hour and the EastEnders rating should be quite good but if people watch the BBC 3 repeat at 10:00pm, they have to wait untill the next day to see the HD version(if they wanted)

EastEnders rated very well again for what was another brilliant episode.

According to the weather forecasters summer looks set to be a washout (July at least) so who knows.
We could be seeing figures of 10million if the weather really is that bad.

I think the final episode of 'Sarah Jane' should air in the evening slot before Doctor who rather then on CBBC

The way the BBC are scheduling Doctor Who, the Sarah Jane Adventures will have to be aired mid afternoon to fit it in before Doctor Who.

I think 7:00pm is better for Dr who but 6:00pm isn't that bad i guess and i can't see it getting any earlier then that

I can't see how the BBC can justify it even without the budget cuts considering it's such an exclusive sport. Would like to see it go to Sky and swallow up a good chunk of their sports budget so they have to keep their grubby little mitts off other things.


It would serve you well to note there is life beyond EastEnders and in the few months since it began occupying the 10pm slot on BBCHD so many flagship shows have been bounced around the HD schedule, when nowadays people expect such shows to be simulcast.

Those wanting EastEnders in HD have the option to watch it or record it on BBC1 - and if they miss it they can either wait for the HD repeat or opt for it in SD on BBC3.


I do think though the decision to air it at 4.30pm is an odd one. Usually if 10pm isn't available there is a slot on BBC HD either at 10.30pm or slightly later where it could go. Indeed I'm not sure about all these repeats of content from BBC1 to fill the schedules on BBC HD now BBC1 HD is there for that purpose. Surely considering BBC HD is three in one channels there must be enough HD content between them without repeating stuff aired a few hours earlier on BBC1 HD.

If the BBC had a top rated show following it (even something like Strictly; at least it rates well) I wouldn't mind so much - but So You Think You Can Dance? is struggling anyway. I don't think they should put Doctor Who in a horrific slot to boost an ailing programme.
