Just amazing for Eurovision! There was such a buzz around it this year!

Does anyone know how Eurovision is placed in the overnight rating chart of 2011?

Remember when the Champions League Final was in Moscow - that didnt start til 10.45pm local and finished near 2am local, so I'm guessing it will be on at the usual times.

Fantastic result for Eurovision last night - it must be Jedward that got people turning in early

Poor overnight for DW, but judging by the reaction in the episode thread, it's going to timeshift like crazy!

Yes excellent for Eurovision.

And the other success of the night Sing If You Can with 4m+. I can sense a recommission

Dr Who seems deflated.

Wow, I don't think anyone expected that for Eurovision! Seeing that rating explains BGT, which took a big knock against it, although beating it head to head is something I guess. Interestingly, had Eurovision not been there BGT would've got 10m+ as the weather was bad so Eurovision knocked about 2m off it. Diabolical for Life Stories! I knew it would be low but not that low! Doctor Who did OK as the overnights really are only half the story with that show. SYTYCD tanked before and after it, but SIYC actually did OK and is 1m up on two weeks ago - could it be recommissioned? Don't Scare The Hare is embarrassing.

Interestingly, Million Pound Drop was actually last for some of its slot, and the programme that followed it, Stand Up for the Week had an embarrassing 0.3m (1.4%)!

Holy McF-ckety!

Just when you hope it will tank and the Beeb will either throw its weight or pull out, it gets its highest ratings in years. Will have to go back some years for the last 9.5m+ rated Eurosong!

Holy McF-ckety again!

Nigh on THIRTEEN MILLION watching the block voting fiasco that late on a Saturday night? One of the biggest peak audiences we'll see all year?!

Amazing figures for the time of night!

That's below expectations, and includes +1 too!

OK-ish peak, but only OK. It's the FA Cup final, domestic football's showpiece occasion. Well and truly beaten by the flippin Eurosong as the big event yesterday.

Well, I suppose it was ahead by 1m or so, but it was still outrated overall by Eurovision, which is something of an indignity.

But the sky didn't quite fall in, as some on here were fretting would be the case...

We don't know the actual tape-checked overnight. It was pointed out last night that it went off air earlier than billed, at 7.16.

It surely got 6m+.

An hour in the company of two slimy 'champagne socialists' is too much for most people.

Based on the 15-minute breakdowns, from 18:30 to 19:15 it had 6.1m (29.6%)

Fantastic rating for Eurovision last night, its most watched since at least 1999. I think we all knew it was going to rate well, especially compared to last year, but not that well! It wasn't even that far behind BGT during the head-to-head, within a million viewers in it. Just shows what happens when there's a lot of hype around an event, the rating wasn't too far off being almost double last year's Eurovision rating. As for the rest of BBC1's lineup, Don't Scare the Hare bombed in the earlier slot as expected with the lowest share of the day for BBC1. Disappointing rating for Doctor Who - the actual number is okay but the share is low. I'd have expected the rating to be up on last week bearing in mind the later timeslot and worse weather; even tape-checked it would be down week-on-week. SYTYCD continues to rate poorly, I think it'd be better if they just combine the results show with the performance show and have it all done by 7pm. Good rating for MOTD, bearing in mind it started so late!

Britain's Got Talent was down 2m week-on-week and got its lowest overnight rating since 2008 (in the official figures it might beat an episode last year though). But I can't say I'm surprised with the BGT figure - it's in line with the drops it's experienced in previous years when up against Eurovision. This series so far by the way is down about -7% vs. last year's equivalent average at this point. I think that's an acceptable drop when taking various factors into account, but I reckon they've made a mistake scheduling the live shows as last year because they could've had better ratings not scheduling the shows up against EastEnders. The FA Cup Final did alright compared to the last two year's ITV's had it. Sing if You Can wasn't dented by partly going up against Doctor Who, in fact it semeed to benefit because it's so different and has little crossover audience with DW. Very poor rating for Life Stories - its 2nd worst rating ever.

I think the dancing is starting to hurt Doctor Who now so it really should be dumped.
As for Eurovision that is a great ratting.

Does Britain's got talent usually recover in the ratings after Eurovision.

Great rating for BBC2 there. 800k behind BBC1.

Suspect we might see more Ronnies repeats in that slot, which always seems to do well for comedy classics - a reminder of what fun Saturday night TV used to be...

It was up against the climax of the Cup Final!

6.1m isn't that bad for what is still too early a slot at this time of year. Not helped I guess by the dismal lead-in, and viewers having been with ITV1, unusually, late afternoon/early evening for the football. And it started midway through ITV's competing offering.

Have two pretty graphs: http://imageshack.us/m/199/489/grapho.png

And the primetime shares:

BBC1 - 31.5%
ITV1 - 16.6%
BBC2 - 6.5%
C4 - 4.8%
C5 - 4.6%

To be fair, it probably would've got the lowest BBC1 share of the day even starting another time of the day .

It's not bad - we all know it'll timeshift to 8m. But people have been saying all along that DW should be on later than 18:00/18:15 so that ratings rise. Starting at 18:30, you'd have expected the rating to be up a little compared to last week due to more people watching TV at that particular time, but for some reason the share was relatively low and that dragged down the average. You say it had a low lead-in and it started midway through the competing offering, that's true, but it's no different to previous weeks.

at that 9.5m for Eurovision. And that 12.7m peak is excellent. I did see the final hour or so with the voting which was just a total fiasco. Does it usually go on that long? BGT held up OK under those circumstances I thought. I hope the live shows hit that 10m mark in a few weeks time.

I'd say the Eurovision result bodes well for the live BGT finals. Lets face it, last night ITVs live light ent events audience defected en masse to BBC1.

But where are they going to go next week? Certainly they wont stay with BBC1 with its moribund offering of racing hares, discount dancing lessons rounded off with the offer of a night in casualty.

So big live events are what ITV1 is built around these days. If the genre is healthy, ITV will do well.

I see ITV1 has a big Des O'Connor interview in the flagship 9pm slot.

Des has been around for a long time so he should have an interesting story. Seeing as its a life story its a good booking.

Why are people saying fiasco here in terms of the voting? I thought it was quite fun and tense at some points. Good that the favourite (France) did not win and that for me added the excitement. Shame that Ireland beat us though.

Eurovision was the most watched TV show in France last night with 4.35 million viewers (27%)
