I got the feeling Dr who will top 7 million as it's got a lot of promo and the BBC also shown a 1min clip before EastEnders last night and then the trailer right after.

Very sad news. Maybe they could get an hour-long episode of Only Fools into the schedule, in place of Antiques Roadshow tomorrow. Doesn't matter if AR misses a week, cos there aren't many episodes left in the current series, anyway.

Id rather 7:00pm too but then again Don't scare the hare has been promoted very well so that could get at least 5 million and quite a good lead in for DR who?

I definitely think ITV1 has turned the corner after a disastrous period in the noughties. They seem to have moved away from trashy reality shows and filler like the Coronation St Family Album in peak time and have recovered their strength in drama and entertainment. Also factual programmes like The Lakes have been tempting people away from Eastenders. However, I do think the soaps should be over and done with by 8pm and they should revive formats like Wish You Were Here.

I wonder whatll happen to Rock and Chips as there is only one special left. I imagine its up to the family.

I suppose it depends whether or not John had written any further scripts on the off chance of a recommission, or in the knowledge of one.

See, even if BGT did dip a bit, it is still an advertisers dream with figures like that. 2.5m in the 16 to 34 range alone is mammoth.

The BBC are reporting it as the "third and final episode", although considering how the BBC have treated it I suspect they won't be too concerned at the prospect of their being no more. Should give Thursday's airing a boost though.


P.S. At the risk of going all Daily Mail can the BBC really justify sending the Masterchef finalists to Australia and New York just to spread the final across three days.

Iv nothing against daftness, but this is truly bad.

Its the kind of show the BBC hating press will use as a stick to beat it with, although its audience will probably be so small no-one will notice.

I dont know why the BBC dont just bring back Its a Knockout.

Very strange night for the ratings - the highest numbers seemed to be recorded between 7.30 - 8.30, and before and after then there was a dip resulting in low figures for the likes of The One Show and Paul O'Grady. The second Coronation Street also had a low share - I guess it isn't a tape-checked rating?

If the pattern follows tonight that may be good news for Britain's Got Talent as people appeared to be around watching TV at 8pm last night. Not so sure about Doctor Who - it should get at least 5m, maybe slightly higher as it's currently raining in London (apparently over Stamford Bridge anyway!) and there were reports of hail in Sheffield.

Whilst it's been raining all day in Edinburgh, the clouds have just parted in time for Doctor Who and from my window I have already seen 3 groups out with the BBQ lit. Can't be a good sign.

Got to agree - with contestants 20 years younger it might work for CBBC - but all in all one of the worst shows I've seen in recent years on BBC1. At least Hole in the Wall treated viewers as if they were over the age of three.


This 5.30pm slot always awkward to fill - but although the entire budget for a series of Don't Scare the Hare may be less than repeat fees for a single episode, I think they could repeat the likes of My Family and even Doctor Who and Merlin (and even Robin Hood) in the slot rather than commission new content for it.

BBC 1 has an incredibly poor lineup except for Doctor Who, which has been placed in an awful slot. I can't see it topping 6.5 million, in a better slot that show can achieve over 7 million for a series opener surely?
