as if that is the only reason I might want it to rain.

The actual reason I would like it to rain, is that its gotten very hot the past few days, and I would welcome the refreshing cool air, that a rain shower brings, after a few days of hot weather, I dont like the heat.

Also I know my mother has been in her garden today, she would probaly like some rain to water her plants.

I have made a post on Dont Scare The Hare, if you bother to look.

However in terms of Dont Scare... Vs Sing If ...., I saw some of Dont Scare... tonight, and whilst it does have problems of its own, it has redeemable features, unlike Sing If You Can, which doesnt.

I notice Ruth Jones' Easter Treat aired a few hours ago. Was there any promotion for the show? I havent heard it mentioned anywhere.

Also on Dont Scare The Hare, how about Dont Scare The Charnham, never mind "The Silence" that robot hare is going to give me nightmares. I would not want to be around that thing when it malfucations and runs riot.

It did rain in London around 5.30-6pm but it was quite brief, was actually good as it has been hot and it helps cool the atmosphere. Steven Moffatt was on Twitter asking people to rain dance, looks like he got his wish.

Where you live and what platform you use will determine what ITV1 HD you'll receive.

There are four regions on Sky, London, Meridian South, Central West and Granada.

In the SW we get Central West.

If you're on Freesat it's a basic north/south divide. With viewers in the North (Granada, Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and Border) getting Granada and viewers in all the other regions getting London.

I assume Freeview HD works the same as Sky?

Does that 6.5 include BBC1 HD? im sure the Who lost out on ratings last year as the BBC HD ratings were separate?

It's funny I remember watching DW then turning it on to the PC and thinking "and they honestly thought people would stay !" I guess these prove that most people didn't stay around.

IMO DW should be on in 6:45-7pm slot. Why the BBC is trying to make people watch SYTYCD is just...

Solid return for Doctor Who. It was way down on all of its previous launches but none of those aired at 6pm in such good weather. It'll be closer to 8.5m with timeshift which is great. Looks like the scheduling was definitely a mistake though as SYTYCD saw no increase on last week, and the results show did horribly later, and being in that sandwich seemed to dent Who Dares Wins a bit. Big drop for Sing If You Can, which will be partly due to the weather and partly due to it being crap.

BGT did pretty well I think. It was down on last week in raw figures but its share was up which is encouraging. I bet it grew a lot whilst it was on air too. Edit: the excellent peak of 11.1m does indeed suggest it grew a lot. The big shock for me is seeing Casualty down at 4.3m despite not airing against BGT. I think that shows how the Bank Holiday weekend took its toll, and shows how well BGT held up. Piers did OK considering how far down everything else was. Poor for The Million Pound Drop and Ruth Jones. Don't Scare The Hare did miserably and March of The Dinosaurs was a massive flop. Shame as from what I saw it was quite good. Still, it will have been cheap for them to buy so they won't be too worried.

Yes it includes HD. Good start for it all considering, share slightly low compared to previous series openers, but nothing to be massively concerned about. Unsurprisingly low for the Hare.

Britain's Got Talent did well and I think ITV will be pleased if it remains between 9 and 10m for the remainder of the auditions.

SYTYCD was actually down from last week slightly, to 2 decimal places. Just shows the DW lead-in didn't help whatsoever!

No, It isn't!

DW should time-shift to 8m. You can't really complain about that as an audience figure. That would be very good at 9pm on a Sunday in January, never mind 6pm on a hot Easter Saturday.

Delighted to see no improvement in the ratings for SYTYCD. Here's hoping the BBC now give up on it and swap it with Dr Who (although it did beat Sing If You Can so not all bad. SIYC's ratings are still far too high, though.)

Also Casualty may have been hurt by having to follow-on from SYTYCD results. Suggest BBC1 adjust their schedule to :

6.00 SYTYCD
7.15 Dr Who
8.00 Lottery
8.50 Casualty
9.40 SYTYCD Results.

Let the bratty weepy drama-school kids sweat it out a lot longer.

Surely the majority of DW's demo are the sort who put on a programme they want to watch, regardless of where it sits in the schedule?

Solid start for Doctor Who taking into account the timeslot, weather, Easter Saturday effect etc. The audience increased by quite a lot during the episode which shows it should've aired later on, where it could've got a 7m+ overnight. The lead-in didn't help SYTYCD at all, in fact it was slightly down from last week's average. Hopefully the BBC responds to last night's ratings and switches the two around. Don't Scare the Hare started very poorly - bearing in mind it was up against the massive flop that was Marching with the Dinosaurs and had a lead-out of DW, its share should've been much closer to 20% if not higher. I also thought DW's share would've been a couple of points higher as the other openers have begun with 38%+, but that's not an issue as it timeshifts more these days. It was poor scheduling by the BBC to start the SYTYCD results show during BGT and the rating shows that. Casualty rated quite badly, well below its usual 24/25% share, although I guess the lead-in didn't help.

Solid for Britain's Got Talent - it was down 0.9m week-on-week but the share was up and the peak was quite close to last week's peak. So not a bad result. Sing if You Can completely tanked - now rating below what the Whole 19 Yards was doing last year and embarrassingly beaten by SYTYCD. It might recover a little bit next week with a better lead-in but I can't see it going over 4m again. Life Stories did alright (ish). Looks like Million Pound Drop got one of its lowest 9pm audiences ever.

Some really low ratings apart from DW and BGT
Surprised they have all ready been posted as well which is good.

Sing If You Can way down, but considering its lead in held up better than I'd thought. I reckon it could solidly get 4m with something else before it.

Taking into account the whether and its lead in, SIYC being just 0.2 behind SYTYCD has be bad news for the latter.

Certainly, but in terms of the cost in making them SIYC must be dirt cheap compared to SYTYCD.

So not a catastrophe then for DW. Just outside the top end of my expectations, probably helped by the heatwave ending for some yesterday. It was quite cloudy and damp where I was.

I guess DW will get 8m+ and the BSI/Cohen will feel vindicated for attemtping to give Dance a leg up. For me though, the issue isn't so much the 6pm start, insane as it is, but airing this flagship ratings giant in summer. Had this series launched in Jan/Feb we'd be looking at 10-11m ratings and a series averaging 8-9m. Having had a year off, its crazy that the Beeb haven't realigned it with the times of the year people actually watch telly...

Jaw dropper for me was Dinosaurs on ITV. That 1.3m figure includes the 6pm repeat, and even aggregated it was beaten by BBC2's Flog It and well behind Hare. Over 2hrs till 7pm, that's astonishing. I reckoned it was good for 3m. It got barely one third of that.

Talent got its regular 9m, peaking towards 11m as people tuned in for their dancing dogs fix. Do we have the raw ITV1 numbers because I expect BGT does very good business for +1 given the holiday heatwave and the poor 9pm choices in particular.

Just a note, DS ratings are not tape-checked as Attentional doesn't tape-check for for Bank Holidays. (Fridays ratings are not tape-checked either, and nor were Thursdays I don't think) And oh no...

Even bigger BGT ratings this week!! On the hottest Easter bank holiday for ages! Thank you for watching! Simon is delighted x
