I don't know why people have a problem with Sing If You Can. I find it funny and is currently the only thing on ITV1 worth watching. (TBH, watching 99% of the shows on ITV1 is less entertaining than watching paint dry)!

There's a Sunday Blackpool special next week too. This week it's a London special-perhaps trying out something new? Or maybe there's a double episode in the future that's being displaced?

I reckon Corrie will almost definitely be sub 6m tonight. If it only managed 7m in its normal slot on Friday, then in an unusual slot with a weak lead in and strong competition it will definitely struggle. Their winning Sunday formula of 2 soaps/a drama with the word 'Heart' in/feature length drama will be very hard to regain now.

I hate to break it to the people who are saying that Sing If you Can would make a good show for CITV (like Dont Scare.. for CBBC) but no sane parent would let their kids appear on that show, im sure some childrens groups may have something to say about it as well.

Oh is it a special, I realized that it was on tonight but not that the location was anything different. Have you seen much promotion because I didn't see anything throughout the week or last night.

I think ITV have moved on the two soaps and elderly oriented drama that filled these slots until 3 years ago. However, should C St fail in this slot, then I can't see ITV wanting to show more episodes on a Sunday.
Now this makes you feel old but Coronation St was threatened with the axe during the summer of 1984 when ratings fell to 10 million and the show was seen on its last legs. Nowadays only the most imnportant episodes get this figure.

There's still scenes on the Street, but the focus is mainly on the locations and they seem to be more specials, because the Blackpool & London scenes are for one episode only and it seems odd both these episodes are airing on an unusual day, making them more 'special'.

And no the only promotion I've seen is on the Internet. ITV should have really gone out with the promotion on this one advertising them as specials imo.

On two occasions the future Corrie has been in doubt: the mid eighties when Eastenders soared past it in the ratings and a rough patch in the mid nineties when ratings fell below 10 million for the first time. I did read that Thames wanted to move it out of a peak time slot in 1987 as the demographics were awful in London. Usually, though, the old stager comes back, such as a revival with the Blackpool tram incident and the Free Deirdre campaign. Now I think with all the channels and the fact it's not must see television for many viewers now, 8 million is very respectable.

Incorrect, Coronation Street gets over 10m at least twice a week throughout the winter months.

Coronation Street airs every Easter Sunday. You are talking as if the Christmas Day EastEnders was the BBC 'trying out' having an episode on a Saturday.

I think it could have been a ratings success if they'd publicized it more then as it does seem like quite an interesting episode.

Usually when there is a foot of snow on the ground and this is when the old stager strikes with a major storyline like the Metrolink crash. However, summer months see it fall to 7 million and also the BBC doesn't seem to wilt like it used to. Also looking back to the late seventies, C St tended to get 17 million viewers in winter and 13 million in the summer.

William and Kate: The Movie I think will quite comfortably clear 1m looking at Twitter. I think ratings will be somewhat back to normal as well, quite a bit cooler here in the Midlands and less sunny.

Any bets on the Royal Wedding ratings? I'll go for 25 million, 22 million on BBC One and 3 million for ITV1.

So the Hare got the better of the Dinosaurs, and Sing hit a duff note. Although, maybe Holden might try and tell us Sing's ratings improved.

March of the Dinosaurs deserved more...cute dinos versus scary robot rabbits ought to have produced only one winner.

ITV ought to have properly promoted MOTD as the action drama that it was rather than Stephen Fry does Attenborough.

And I know that MOTD is usually the acronym for a different Saturday show but I am talking about the one with the lumbering old dinosaurs who have seen better days and are on the verge of extinction.

And in case any one is still confused that is not the one on BBC.

I wonder if Sing If You Can will be this year's Celebrity Wrestling, as ratings have fallen by 40 pc week on week, and get shunted into a graveyard slot.

I think it could get on the right side of 1.5 since it has had a lot of publicity - it may be, almost universally, panning the project but hey any publicity is good publicity. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1.9 peak.

I think May will be a very lucrative month for ITV1 as BGT goes into a daily slot and if Man U get into the ECL final, then expect 16 million viewers. BGT might be down on the Subo series, but I still reckon the last few shows will pull in 13 million viewers with 15 million for the final. This kind of compensates for their down period in the summer when the reality comes out and viewers switch off.
Also might I be right in saying that the return of Celebrity Love Island was just a rumour as I don't think Finchy would recommission such a tacky show?

It always airs on Easter Sunday, though why it airs next week too I don't know. Any news yet on whether the same scheduling as last year will apply during Britain's Got Talent, or might it lose an episode or two instead - hence the early extras.

I suspect even if BGT goes back to being one show, it will by 2 hours long rather than 90-minutes, especially with the extra judge - so could air Mon/Fri 8.30pm and Tue-Thu 8pm. One Corrie would then move to Wednesday, but two more would need a slot - possibly the Sunday before and after.


And if ITV could find something they can air in the 8pm hour that brings in a solid audience I think moving the Thursday (or Friday) Corrie to a flexible Sunday/Wednesday slot would work fine - with 30 or so episodes on non-football Wednesday nights and the rest on Sundays, probably over Spring/Summer. Though back when it did air on Sundays, how did the Sunday ratings hold up over the summer compared to weeknights?

I wonder if they'll hold 71 Degrees North back till the Autumn again or whether they'll air it over the summer, especially with no rival reality shows on air.
