I see from the EPG that ITV has sensibly split its coverage into two hour chunks. The cretins at the BBC have stuck with their single 5h40m broadcast.

What a shame, as the main event would easily top the 2011 chart, so we are going to end up with only the overnight breakdown to tell us how many watched the wedding itself on the BBC, whilst Cowell will claim TXF was more popular than a Royal Wedding. Grrr.

I reckon 19.6m BBC1 peak, 4.5m ITV peak and peaks of around 1m on both Sky and BBC News. Of course, I hope for much more and do think a total 30m peak is achievable.

Surely it would continue as Hathaway? Laurence Fox is the reason Lewis is so good.

In a recent RT interview Whately said that he’d stop doing it if Fox didn’t want to do anymore which indicates to me at least that he’s happy to keep going.

Very surprising. I assume Gypsy Weddings was way off where it was for the series then?

Yeah. Both LLF and BFGW were about ~4m (exc +1), R&C about ~3.5m.

I'll post a update soon.

Woah. Presumably people didn't want to watch any more wedding stuff yesterday? Poor for Rock and Chips.

Very poor for Rock and Chips. What does it say about the viewing public though when Masterchef can out-rate a quality drama/comedy

Interesting. LLF was about where I expected it to be, but BFGW and R&C were both much lower than I expected.

3.4m for Rock and Chips. Yikes!

and

Are we quite sure the BARB computer hasn't had a malfunction?

Although at BFGW. The viewers got bored with that quickly.

I thought when rzt said LLF won the 9pm slot that it's ratings had soared to way above 5m.

Crazy ratings! I'd love to know how they compare to the DSRPG averages?
Gosh, I thought for sure BFGW would win followed by R&C, but both did really badly, esp R&C!
I think Beeb have royally screwed up scheduleing there, those shows need to be shown together, we didn't watch as we'd missed the second episode, it's not like OF&H where they can stand alone, there's a continuing story that you need to know what's happening. Stupid really!
Glad Bobby Charlton documentary did well, we watched it and it was lovely, really well made.

Dreadful ratings last night and the weather is crap now.

Gypsy Weddings though much lower than earlier this year, is still double or triple what Channel 4 normally get at 9 O'clock, and they have very few shows capable of 3m+. However Channel 4 really need to learn to limit it to one series a year, and not to milk it too much

It seems people wanted to escape from the Wedding, with Long Lost Family winning the slot. Although given Channel 4's poor ratings lately, that probably did not help Big Fat Royal Gypsy Weddings at all.

But this is Channel 4, home of the Come Dine With Me wallpaper and the Deal or No Deal whitewash. What has happened to a once great tv channel ?

It's still about 23m watching at 9pm.

What has happened is that the "main" channels have simply stopped making programmes that pull in a general audience, as a matter of routine that is.

Programmes are aimed at quite narrow "demographics" nowadays, even the BBC do this.

So audiences are increasing split across many many channels, hence any single channel has relatively low numbers most of the time.

Some really strange ratings last night. I didn't ever think LLF would win its slot-quite unusual for Corrie to beat EE too, but it seems the royal doc might have dented EE slightly. Strong for the second Emmerdale too, where as we enter Summer the 2nd Thursday episode will be much higher than the other episodes.

Awful for R&C...I really don't understand why it was so low either-it should have been at least 5m and I was expecting LLF to collapse to around 3m. Bizarre.
