In case of low ratings:

1) Blame the schedulers. If only the programme had a better lead in, wasn't up against any competition on other channels, was on at the weekend, was on a weeknight, was on too early, was on too late, was on at 9pm, should have been on at 9pm,......

2) Blame the weather - too hot/ cold/ sunny/ raining/ foggy/ cloudy

3) Blame the viewers - too stupid to appreciate the show

That is a sad Rock and Chips figure. It must be the lowest rating ever associated with a first run John Sullivan script-unless GGG plumbed those kind of depths.Sad finish ratings wise to a fabulous career.

Very sad.

I think times have just moved on to be honest .... You just look at the top rating shows of the year now ... for the last few years it's always been reality TV shows where 'in the good old days' it was not rare for a sitcom to be the most watched show of the year now it's all most an impossible thought.

Though, I do think GGG did get a lower rating than that for an episode but I'm not sure if JS write the episode or if it was another writer.

Is it?
was still 21 Degrees here yesterday with quite a bit of sun.

Today atm is quite dull but the sun is trying to come out.

I guess Eastenders was dented by the Royal wedding special.

Where's Doctors 2:15pm rating as it was a double bill and NOT an hour-long

None of the above.

Rock and Chips bombed because it just wasn't funny. The first one wasn't either.

I watched the first one and it seemed to be more comedy drama than comedy. Funny in bits but no really classic one liners as you would bet in OFAH

From the BBC Press Office: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre.../wedding.shtml

Quote:
“11.30am – BBC Statement: "We are experiencing some technical issues with BBC Online due to the sheer weight of traffic which may cause the site to be slower than normal in some cases."”

From Twitter:

Quote:
“At 10:22am - 7,320 tweets per minute.
At 11:04am - 8,760 tweets per minute
At 11:09am - 14,220 tweets per minute
At 11:27am - 18,000+ tweets per minute”

Astonishing numbers.

* highest ever rating”

Watchdog back to 4m+ and beats Rock and Chips! Bobby Charlton doc did well, in the circumstances. The Will and Kate on ITV beat the how they met doc on Tuesday 9pm! 10 o'clock live poor. BFGW down by half. Good for Europa League with no English club and nice rating for CJ.

The Picture on BBC1 is so much better then that of ITV1 during the royal wedding.

ITV1 looks so dull

Really surprised by how many cars on are the road and people out. More so than a world cup match I think, there is obviously a significant anti-audience, can't see the peak being much above 20m if that

My mother has gone to ASDA shopping rather then going tommorow as usual and she rang and said it's quite busy.

M&S are quiet as they're shut! Nearly all M&S around the country are open at 1pm.

I have mainly been watching the wedding on both ITV HD and Sky News HD.

A shame - and note the final stays on Saturdays too.

What a shame, as the main event would easily top the 2011 chart, so we are going to end up with only the overnight breakdown to tell us how many watched the wedding itself on the BBC, whilst Cowell will claim TXF was more popular than a Royal Wedding. Grrr.

I reckon 19.6m BBC1 peak, 4.5m ITV peak and peaks of around 1m on both Sky and BBC News. Of course, I hope for much more and do think a total 30m peak is achievable.”

It really doesn't matter one bit. Anyone who cares about ratings knows how to interpret them and the reports will break it down for you anyway.

You've nothing to worry about anyway - I'm pretty sure even from 8am-4pm the BBC will average more than ITV have from 11am-12.15pm.

I'm surprised MBFGRW only came second! I thought it would be comfortably win its slot, I bet ITV1 are pleased how Long Lost Family did because it will bounce back next week. Rock and Chips did badly which is a shame, it should broadcast on Easter Monday.

Channel 4 have to careful not to overexpose Gypsy Weddings because CDWM and to extent Secret Millionaire have suffered from being overexposed.

Obviously they will come a distant second in the ratings but credit to ITV, their coverage has been superb.

It's been alright but not brilliant.
The picture is dull and i think the BBC seem to have been alot quicker with their coverage.

is all thats needed really.

In which way do you mean quicker, in which way? I don't really see how either ITV or BBC can be quicker?

I'm guilty of being one of those default viewers - I woke up, put the telly on (BBC1) and didn't bother changing the channel. Their coverage has been alright I suppose. Huw is a bit dry.

And The Church of England's "presenting" talent wasn't up to much either, nor were their scriptwriters, IMO. If they could ditch the religious tripe the ratings would soar!

There seemed to be a few sec delay on ITV it seemed.

The BBC seemed to have gone and spoke to the crowd and shown around London alot more.

ITV done the horrible split screens thing
