is all thats needed really.

In which way do you mean quicker, in which way? I don't really see how either ITV or BBC can be quicker?

Must have be a really short clip then
It started with the Iconic scene with Mr Meldrew picking the Dog up as the Phone in One foot In the grave and just shown about a min of clips with Like EastEnders,Dr who,SCD ect...

ITV's coverage has been very good though it was always going to better with Huw and Fearne Cotton on the other side. Strange how I really don't think much at all of ITV's news bulletins but they always seem to pull it out of the bag when it comes to major events. Their election coverage was brilliant as well.

There seemed to be a few sec delay on ITV it seemed.

The BBC seemed to have gone and spoke to the crowd and shown around London alot more.

ITV done the horrible split screens thing
Mm but I didn't want to see the crowd, or around London!

Mark Austin being engulfed on the Mall beat anything the BBC could offer.

It was nice to see what everyone was Saying and the Helicopter/plane scenes were good too.

I didn't have it on BBC1HD just normal BBC1 and the picture and sound was brilliant.

ITV better than expected, although Schofield plays Frank Spencer to Huw Edwards' Richard Dimbleby.

It shows London in a brilliant light - and people around the world are reminded just how eccentric the English are. Hmm Kate Garraway and that laugh and throaty voice of hers. Time for BBC again I think.

Hope BBC can peak at 20 million - and double figures for the whole 8.00-13.40. If ITV get a 25% share I would be surprised.

Nice Trailer there from the BBC.
showing some of the 'Best Bits' over the years on BBC1
I noticed Torchwood, Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys as part of that clip. Was the CGI dinosaur from Planet Dinosaur?

Five minutes they were on the balcony - and in that time the BBC went to an unreliable OB twice, cutting away completely from the most important scenes of the day.

ITV stuck with it and made use of the split screen to reshow the kiss without risking missing anything live. They're then sticking with coverage rather than cutting to a news bulletin recapping everything seen so far - but with ugly black graphics to tell you they're at the Palace just in case you hadn't worked it out so far!

Back to ratings though and I guess it'll be same time as usual tomorrow, though with wild estimates in the papers beforehand. Or might BARB rush out a figure for the coverage that we'll get later tonight?

I think the BBC tried to get The public involved alot more too.

Everytime i flicked to ITV they had split screens and too much talking.

Schofield is crap and forgets what he is saying and i dont see why ITV favour him so much

According to John Plunkett (Media Guardian reporter), the power surge on the National Grid was 1,500MW.

That compares to 1,800 MW for Charles and Diana's wedding and 750 MW for Edward and Sophie's.

Yet again the BBC break up their coverage unnecessarily for a few minutes of shameless self promotion, and at a time ITV are sacrificing the ads for the day.

Regardless of how the coverage was scheduled, the BBC didn't need to show any trailers at all from 6am to 4pm.

Possibly.
There was clips of Only Fools and past shows too.
The EastEnders clips were classic ones (early 00's,90's,80's)some casualty,Holby clips.
I don't remember seeing Mrs Brown's Boys though

No they didn't the Clips were before the News.
The clips was just filling in the gap between the wedding and the news.

ITV will be showing ads later anyway so it's not 'Allday'

I watched BBC but the people who were watching ITV, on the wedding thread were on the whole impressed with ITVs coverage.

I think the peak for BBC will be well over 20 million tomorrow.

Mark Austin is trending worldwide on Twitter now.

Although I've no doubt the BBC will wins hands down as they always do, regardless of the quality of the ITV effort, I do wonder now in the days of twitter etc. whether we'll see more people channel hopping mid-coverage in reaction to live reviews of the coverage. ITV could well see it's audience grow if that was the case.

They've got a lot of catching up to do. Tonight's episode of Emmerdale will be 4 minutes of drama and 26 minutes of commercials.

The BBC promo was Morecambe and Wise singing Bring Me Sunshine with the clips making it look as if the BBC stars were singing along.

So Eric & Ern sing "In this world where we live" over a clip of someone saying "in this", a clip of someone saying "world" and a clip of someone saying "where we" (or looking as if they're saying it.)

And it's a blatant copy of a recent MTV promo!!! (although MTV used a different song, obviously, and clips from pop videos rather than TV programmes.)

But ITV aren't breaking up their coverage of the day so they can insert their own rip-off promos.

That compares to 1,800 MW for Charles and Diana's wedding and 750 MW for Edward and Sophie's.
More importantly:

- National Grid: electricity demand fell 1,500 megawatts when Kate got out of car - equiv to 600,000 kettles being turned off.
- Electricity demand up 1,000 MW when service started (ie we lost interest), fell 500MW for vows (we tuned in again).

Could be anyone between 10m and 25m tomorrow.

What no one has said is that we may well see the BBC News at 1:40pm bulletin get a very high figure (or everyone hops to ITV).

It has, much better than the BBC,
I havent seen any of the ITV coverage but have no complaints over what I have seen on BBC.

Presumably you have seen enough of both sides coverage to make that kind of judgement?

calm down dears as Dave says, your getting far too excited about nothing...

There are so many threads on the coverage on here, surely these comments are better placed in those?

If you include promos as adverts then technically BBC1 are the first to show adverts after the wedding, showing loads of promos around the news bulletin.

ITV last aired adverts about 8.20 during Daybreak.

There seems to be a real surprise reaction to ITV's coverage. The Phil & Julie presenting line up was ridiculed when announced, but many are now saying it worked really well, with lots of upbeat banter and pitched at exactly the right level. Huw Edwards sat on his own was at times like a funeral.

From what I have seen both BBC and ITV coverage has been fine. The BBC have been a bit more formal with Huw Edwards not exactly cracking a gag a minute but im sure that style is appealing to the most viewers. ITV is more informal, Schofield has been quite jovial and the coverage seems more to be more of a relaxed, fun feeling. At least ITV are offering an alternvative that should appeal to their usual core viewers.

ITV's coverage has been impressive. The BBC a little stuffy in comparison - ITV's has been a lot warmer and more celebratory.

The BBC will still grab the impressive peak of course but I've enjoyed ITV's coverage more.

It would be a very boring thread if we just gave figures and no discussion on events affecting ratings
