Massive figures for a Friday. Seven's coverage did incredibly well.

Dreadful figures for Ten. I can't believe 7TWO beat Ten to that extent!

Those are great figures for Seven and Nine, though Nine's will have been affected by the NRL. What on Earth were Ten showing outside the ceremony...'The Wedding Circle', 'The Wedding Project', 'Fitzy, Wippa and Lucy'??? I'm not surprised they didn't record good ratings!

I should also point out that Seven's coverage was not shown in full in some cities due to the AFL, which makes its figures even more impressive. Although it has coded its programmes in a strange way so the above timings might not be 100% correct.

The AFL game had 500k, lower than the wedding simulcast on 7TWO.

I guess that's why 7TWO aired the wedding alongside Seven - because of the AFL.

Impressive figures for the Royal Wedding for Seven, ABC and Nine, would be interesting to know the peak.

Did Nine show the Royal Wedding on GEM or GO!?

4.48m watched the live coverage of the Royal Wedding on Channel 1 in Germany. A further 5.83m watched a highlights show during primetime.

Impressive figures for both New Zealand and Australia so far. Not too sure whether Germany's look good, I guess they are though for the time of day.

Talking of the Olympics, no one spotted this in yesterday's Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...pic-Games.html

Didn't realise Leigh Holmwood had moved from The Guardian to The Sun.

And I assume he's having a laugh picking these three?

Quote:
“Cohen also said the BBC was close to confirming who would be the main anchorman or woman for the Games which last from July 27 to August 12.

He added it would "most likely" be one of the Beeb's current main presenters.

Those in the frame include Match of the Day's Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey and Gabby Logan.”

I've a horrible feeling it'll be Lineker or Humpreys, whilst by rights it should be Irvine and Inverdale. John Inverdale has been criminally overlooked for the big events (bar the Six Nations) since Steve Rider left, although has now been named their main athletics presenter so that should secure him the primetime slot most nights during the games, but not necessarily the Opening Ceremony.

And we also have the oddity of the first events taking place two days earlier due to football being awkward. (The IOC are happy for people to compete in just one 100m heat and be eliminated, buyt footballers have to have three games!), so it'll be interesting how the BBC treat them and whether they get a network airing or relegated to the red button.

Back to the wedding and by my calculations we're at around 15m so far worldwide. Just another 1,985,000,000 to go then!

Add in a 2.2 million from Holland, highest rating of the day with a 76% share. Good figures seeing that it was a normal work day over here.

76% share? I hope us Brits can get higher than that... all will be revealed, soon...

*cue BARB announcing ratings are not out until 5pm*

Hopefully not.

That was the main broadcaster though, there was another which carried the service and got 150.000 and got a 5% share. How's that for a BBC/ITV ratio. All figures are averages though so a peak might be even higher. News broadcasts at 11 and 2 on Ned 1 averaged 700.000 (lead-in and out) so there must have been a good peak figure for the service itself.

Talking of our European counterparts, one channel in Germany titled their entire Royal Wedding coverage "Kiss me Kate!" (or "Kuss mer Kate!")

Ratings have been delayed.

You could joke that Masterchef Australia (which returns next week) is more popular than The Royal Wedding in terms of bums on seats.

Big surprise!

I bet you guys would love to see a site like this for UK ratings now!

Dutch ratings site

Mainpage has Top 25 for the day, if you click on the right hand side where it says Laatste Kijkcijfers it will give you all the rating you desire specified by channel / day etc.

I could see that coming. I guess if the ratings are astronomical, then BARB would want to double check and tripe check them before releasing them to the media.

Australia's and Holland's ratings were delayed (as the link posted above shows):

Quote:
“The ratings for Friday, April 29 will be available later than usual. There are additional checks are performed because of the large number of channels that (parts of) the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton has aired.”

I suppose it would be advisable for barb to double check before announcing the 1.40 news as most watched TV yesterday...

Or even Daybreak.

So perhaps ITV did beat the BBC after all then and it's broke the ratings system!

I'm guessing ratings are downloaded overnight from the BARB panel so whether it airs at 11am or 11pm is of little difference in time to prep the ratings.

I'm just amazed we're only on page 54 here - usually everytime there is a major ratings events the mods end up starting a new thread!

I don't really get why people would choose to watch online. It's not like it wasn't available on TV.
