Didn't even realise BBC2 had a new drama until I tuned into Psychoville and caught the end of it. BBC2 seems to be outshining BBC1 with drama this Spring.

In interesting news, ITV2 are making their own version of Cube rip-off "Minute to Win It" - though it being ITV they of course need celebrities to be part of it.

BBC Two has gotten a boost for their drama budget, The Hour looks good as well. I think Ben Stephenson wants BBC Two to be home for quality drama.

Looks like Shadowline heavily dented the 9 O Clock offerings, nobody over 4m in the 9pm hour, is that a first on a Thursday?

Just to confirm- Long Lost Family had 4.08m including HD. That DS rating doesn't include HD nor does the primetime share which was about 21% for ITV1. Soap figs are correct though.

Not bad for the Europa League on C5. Not bad at all. The final should top 1m in 12 days time.

Very poor for David Walliams' programme on C4, lower than what BBC Three usually gets for that kind of show, and beaten by a 25 year old movie on C5.

Considering there's no British teams, it doing okay. They better hope British teams progress further next season, Liverpool has been the biggest draw of their coverage although Man City have done decently as well.

Lucky you posted that when you did, just managed to edit into my post!

I wonder if Long Lost Family will get recommissioned? 4.3m is not exactly the greatest overnight rating, however its holding up against some tough competition - last week it had Gypsy Weddings and this week it had the BBC Two drama which knocked a few viewers off, however its staying above the 4m line and more importantly from ITV's perspective it is winning its slot.

Not bad at all maybe, but somehow I bet they are making a loss on it, I think they would need more than 0.8m to be making a profit. They really needed an English team in it to near the very end to make a profit in my view.

The opening instalment of a fascinating documentary series following vets and engineers as they attempt to relocate some of the world's largest and most dangerous animals. Milkshake: Peppa Pig (1-10/13): The super-successful children’s animation returns for a fourth series on Channel 5. Peppa and her various animal friends and family return for another set of adventures aimed at children of pre-school age.

Movies include Fun with Dick and Jane (2005) and Miss Congeniality (2000).

The Shadow Line started fantastically, almost a million higher than I expected. BBC2 have done well with dramas so far this year, such as Eric and Ernie, United and now this. Psychoville was a tad lower than I thought it'd get as the last episode had 1.4m and thought it'd have at least matched that.

Solid start for Inside the Human Body and good ratings for BBC1 post-10pm. Long Lost Family steady over that 4m mark, C4 did pretty well for Jackpots and Jinxes. Excellent ratings for both Celebrity Juice and Russell Howard's Good News.

Yeah, if it holds up about 4m or above for its remaining episodes, I definitely think it'll be renewed. ITV have few returning factual strands which are capable of ~4m, the ones they do have are only 2/3/4-parters (such as the Martin Clunes travelogues). A 6-parter like this one getting 4m+ will almost certainly be given another series unless ratings nosedive in its next 3 episodes, which doesn't look likely.

Cricket fans will be pleased to note that Channel 5's highlights programmes have been extended from 45 minutes last year to 60 minutes this year, airing daily at 7pm. From a ratings perspective, this should provide a nice boost to C5's slot average.

5 News moves to 6:55pm.

I've alway thought it should be an hour because they air it with limited break when it was 45 minute, interesting they've cut the news, maybe they're seeing how the slot does because we've seen on bank holiday that the slot average doubles with a repeat.

Excellent for The Shadow Line- I thought it would benefit from no drama competition, but it was still higher than I thought. ITV1 performed respectably too and I think LLF will definitely get a recomission, because there aren't many factual series capable of 4m+ and this one has been well received and is a bit different to the usual travelogue stuff. Cutting Edge performed OK and Human Body did as well as could be expected really. Likewise with the football, it was never going to be a big ratings puller.

Another solid couple of figures for Emmerdale. The 7pm figure has been extremely consistent this week, always around 6.7m and again the 8pm figure is very close to Corrie.

Brilliant start for The Shadow Line. I hope it holds up over what is a fairly lengthy run by their standards (7 episodes). Heartening to see BBC Two doing some of these ambitious dramas and getting their reward for them. The extra money into the channels drama budget was well spent.

well if EE is low, then the ITV soaps were ever more so, decent BBC 3 ratings for EE however. I do really believe that in warmer weather EE fans watch on BBC 3.

A very mixed bag for Russell Howard's Good News last night. A strong audience of 1m / 6.3% watching on BBC Three, but just 3k (0.02%) watched the simulcast on BBC HD.

BBC Two are good at dramas but they're usually short runs or one-offs, it would good to see more 6-8 episodes series likewise with Channel 4 who have Sirens coming up, their first drama series in a while.

Speaking of Channel 4, looks like Shameless USA has been promoted to the main channel as the highlights for June include it, Camelot and Sirens/Naked Apes. Camelot I think will be Saturdays or Sundays, Sirens 10pm weekday and Shameless probably Tuesdays at 10pm although I would given Sirens a 9pm slot and pair it with Shameless.

Solid if unspectular ratings for BBC1 with EE winning the day. ITHB started with roughly what I thought. Long Lost Family has really done well to hold onto that 4m+ audience. I would have never seen this as a hit at all and would have expected it to be on 2.5m by now. Emmerdale been very steady this week. Possibly the most consistent soap at the moment with just 0.3m separating all of this weeks episodes. Corrie close to EE too. Good to see the Thursday battle closer than it used to be. And Celebrity Juice getting 1.7m+ inc. +1 is just excellent. That show has come a long way!!

The Shadow Line is 7 episodes, I think. So with that and The Crimson Petal and the White, it does look like BBC2 have been increasing the no. of 3+ episode dramas commissioned recently. The Hour, another drama coming up on BBC2, will be 6 episodes.

I was looking at the officials for Celebrity Juice the other day, and you're right it's come a long way since it started. Here's the official averages for each series (figs include +1):

Autumn 2008: 0.39m
Spring 2009: 0.45m
Spring 2010: 0.80m
Autumn 2010: 1.39m
Spring 2011: 1.87m*
* currently airing - average set to rise

You could say the show was a bit fortunate to get a 2nd/3rd series based on the ratings it was getting early on. But in the space of 2.5 years, it's risen by +1.5m (+379%). In the last 12 months since last year's equivalent series, it's grown by +1.1m (+134%). If that sort of trend continues (or even at a much smaller series-to-series growth), it won't be too long before it starts coming close to Inbetweeners multi-channel territory.

Although C4 has been seriously lacking in drama of late More4 needs Shameless USA more - and frankly US re-writes of original C4 shows are more suited to the dgital channels. (The press pack suggests it's still destined for More4 too, but I suspect like More4 shows it'll get a C4 airing a matter of days later).

Hopefully Sirens will step things up for C4 in the way Teachers and then Shameless did at the beginning of the last decade, Camelot I just can't see taking off thanks to the Arthur/Merlin story already being told over here in Merlin. Of all the shows around on US cable (other than HBO) at the moment, Camelot seems to be about the riskiest thing they could have purchased.

AMC's remake of The Killing would be a good move for them, and frankly they need to be looking at cable more than the networks for their US imports at the moment as the networks just aren't delivering at the moment. I'd guess apart from Glee, breakout hits have been few and far between the last couple of years.

Maybe it's going to be like The Big C which got a 11pm repeat on Channel 4 after it was shown a few days before on More4. Shameless will probably replace either The Good Wife or Brothers and Sisters.

Sirens sounds like the successor to Teachers and No Angels which I was a fan of. I agree about Camelot.

I find that so hard to believe with over a quarter of homes having access to the channel.

What's 3k equivalent to, one BARB panellist watching half the programme?

Not many people want to see Russell in HD. I bet he's delighted.

Long Long Family had a good night, as did The Shadow Line. The ITV soaps were affected by Watchdog, but that's no excuse. EastEnders did reasonably well, and BBC1 had a solid night.
