Funny you say that, on the Monday morning it had 376,000 which I think must be one of the lowest figures ever for that slot on an ITV1 weekday outside of Christmas.
Oh, the joys of Daybreak, going from record lows to near record highs in the space of 24 hours! |

It ended in 1989 and then was absent for 16 years. I think the BBC re runs in the early nineties were like a bribe to the fans who had become very vocal about DW being cancelled. However, the last 2 years of the eighties season had seen DW placed against Coronation St, when this attracted 17 million viewers, and the last season struggled with 4 million viewers.

I am aware of why Doctor was axed, just not about the early 90s repeats, what can I say my parents were kinda controlling about what I watched on TV, for example I was not allowed to watch Byker Grove, I dont understand why, ive only ever met one girl who could make the Geordie accent sound sexy.

Those are some pretty big figures and further proof these should be bundled into the ITV1 Top 30 chart like the BBC do. 0.7m can make a big difference to the ITV1 SD ratings. ![]()

Better than I expected from Strangeways. Wooton Bassett didn't do as well as I thought it would I wish the two channels would split their drama/documentaries instead of airing them together.

Final schedules for 20th May now out (although subject to minor revisions tomorrow):
BBC One 5:35 - SYTYCD? 6:45 - Doctor Who 7:30 - SYTYCD? Results 7:55 - Who Dares Wins 8:45 - Casualty 9:35 - John Bishop's Britain (r) ITV1 5:50 - People Do The Funniest Things 6:45 - Sing If You Can 8 - BGT 9 - Life Stories And... Monday 23rd - Super Size Ambulance (presumably a documentary) at 9 on BBC1. Tuesday 24th - Crimewatch at 9 on BBC1. Thanks to Elgin for the above info Sing if You Can is so successful that its now on for 75 minutes! Although its also against Doctor Who thanks to SYTYCD? being bumped down the schedule. John Bishop's Britain as a result is the filler in primetime. |

They were definitely repeated off and on in 1992 and 1993, either opposite Coronation St on BBC1 or on BBC2 on Sunday mornings. I do recall the Friday night ones also clashing some of the time with The Living Soap, what nowadays would be called a reality show. The Living Soap did make minor celebrities out of the housemates- a group of students in Manchester- for a short time, but ratings were so low it never came back. However, from acorns grow oaks with regard to these kinds of show.
* Canal Street being that place in Manchester with lots of gay clubs, I think I have that right. Quote:

so "The Living Soap" would be something like MTVs Real World, have to say ive never heard of it, dont remind ITV of it, they will only bring it back, but this time call it "The Real Coronation Street" or if the soap forum is to be believed "Canal Steert"*
* Canal Street being that place in Manchester with lots of gay clubs, I think I have that right. if anybody can work out how that happened, can you please tell me, I still dont know how it got comissioned. I live in horror just thinking about it., not that the Hare is any better, that thing could scare kids behind the sofa without any help from the Daleks. |

Good for all the soaps. I wonder how Waterloo Road will rate tomorrow. I fully expect it to be down on the 4.9 million viewers it logged last Wednesday.

at Strangeways. Never expected it to be so close to 6m but with just 2.8m watching BBC1 in that hour maybe its not such a shock after all. The soaps all performed well. Interesting how DS have reported the soaps for the whole slots today after checking the timings. I thought it was just bank holidays where attentional didn't tape check? The second Corrie ended at 20.55 last night but the rating is for the whole 30 minute slot.

John Bishop's Britain as a result is the filler in primetime. Super Size Ambulance sounds like it might be about an ambulance that's been modified to handle obese patients. That sounds more like a 10 minute item on The One Show than an hour-long programme. Crimewatch on the 24th? But it's on on the 17th. This is going to be the third consecutive week with no drama on BBC1 in a 9pm weekday slot. Maybe they shouldn't have given quite so much drama to BBC2. Not that ITV1 is much better off. They too will have 3 consecutive weeks with no drama in a 9pm weekday slot unless they have a Midsomer or something on Wednesday 25th. Good to see Dr Who at 6.45pm and up against SIYC as well. Never mind the Daleks and the Cybermen, Doctor, just kill the freaky Lemon and his squeaky-voiced sidekick. |

Monday 9th May Overnights
BBC One 21:00- Wootton Bassett: The Town That Remembers: 2.8m (11.8%) ITV1 (inc ITV1+1) 21:00- Strangeways: 5.8m (22.8%) E4 (inc +1) 22:00- Glee: 1.6m 22:15- Made in Chelsea: 510k Guess we can't really say much about Made in Chelsea from that figure - it'll either grow or it won't, but I'm hoping it fails. We don't need "reality" shows with scenes "created for your entertainment". Quote:
Channel 4 needs some structure as do all the channels - it is mostly UK programmes now, whereas in the past it relied on Friends,ER,Cheers, Frasier, etc. They have lost BB and a lot of the rating pullers eg. Ramsay & Oliver have lost much of their appeal. Maybe C4 need to go back to having 9pm movies or original drama rather than so much reality or documentaries.
8pm - Lifestyle 9pm - Factual Entertainment 10pm - Drama (with BB in the summer). At the moment it's just fairly weak formats fluctuating between the three slots. Ideally they'd build the drama back up to have something from Monday to Thursday, perhaps with comedy one night taking the slack, and then ditch one third of their factual formats to fill the 8-10pm slot. |

Looks like it's C4's turn to be the 'broadcaster in crisis'. Have they actually announced anything to replace all those hours of Big Brother throughout the summer ?
Presumably Odd One In is replacing Sing If You Can on Saturdays from 28th May ? How long left for SYTYCD ? |
