I wonder what Alex Polizzi would have to say about this hotel.

Well it is only a three-star hotel, so you can't expect too much at that level!

I think you can reasonably expect better than what they have shown. I wouldn't be too thrilled to go to a 'fine dining' restaurant and be served defrosted shop bought dessert.. I would think she'd have plenty to say about Mark's woeful management style as well.

" a big-head and a know-it-all". He's not changed much since school then.

The bloke is a tool. Did he say he had a sophisticated pallette? That steak covered with that thick brown gloopy sauce proved that one.

I am suprised he hasn't nipped off to Iceland for a prawn ring and the profiteroles. He'd get change out of £2.99,

That poor girl needed extra staff not a pillock with Napoleon syndrome getting in the way.

Loved Harry Hills TV Burp sketch of the manager and his teeth.

I can't help but like Mark, he really is an enigma. Obviously like that from a very early age. The eating thing obviously stems from his strict father not letting him leave the table, or making him eat it cold the next day.

He is a control freak and doesn't think anyone else can do it as well as him. He would drive me insane if I worked with him, but from a viewer's point of view, I like him.

Profiteroles, black forest gateau, steak, prawn cocktail...brings me back to being a child in the 70's....that was so posh!!!

Love this programme. I know a lot of it is played for the cameras but I think Mark is a genuinely nice guy.
I even found myself looking at their website thinking about booking it for a few days!
As mentioned above,I bet their trade has had a massive boost this year.
Even though he wasn't in it much last night,I also love Christian.

I worked as a Chef in a Hotel like this, the manager was worse than Mark, if he didn't like something it wasn't on the menu, he wouldn't have fish or anything spicey or foreign and would not cater for vegetarians, they could have a cheese or egg salad, he didn't last long.

Fascinating.

(I have no interest in this thread, but thought I would stick my nose in, make a pointless comment and then leave).

Good for you Hazel, these boards would be quite dull without angry people like you.

Perhaps but judging by the photos the same cannot be said about his teeth.

Is that room where the family said 'wow' upon entry the same one where the old fella was so excited by the skirting boards?

Seems strange if so because I could have sworn I saw the old fella and his son sitting at a table in the dining room when the family dad was in there talking about his bike crash last night.

Perhaps he came back for another look at the skirting boards.

Mark didn't seem to know what fine dining was. Later in the show he even said "I thought we were opening a steak house". I think he'd have been happy with a copy of the 1970's Beefeater menu.

I feel sorry for the "head chef" ("only chef"!) who was asked to create a menu, only to have Mark take out anything interesting and replace them with bog standard dishes from his youth.

Just watched this on catch-up and you are right!!!
So if the father-nicehighceilings and son-raiseseyesbutnottolookatheight were there and the family, its just as well there appear to be enough beds in the room to sleep a coach trip.

There will be plenty of room because I think it was the Dad
who also said you could tell it would be a big room because it had a big door

I think he may of found an old Berni Inns menu from the 70`s and is basing his fine dining theme on its contents

Love this program and all staff play a good part for tv's sake. But most of all love the FMs who crack me up with their comments. Mark is crazy and if I worked for him I'd want to murder him but I like him just the same. Hope a third series is planned with a totally diff hotel. Both series have been top class.
