OMG I just came across this song and I'm 10 again. Its such a tune!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDbvjqRuMTA

Please tell me there are some others out there who have major love for this song!

I miss Aaliyah so much, I wish I had her essence, she was just cool, not a forced cool like Beyoncé and Rihanna, she just had IT.

On a side note Anastasia must have one of the most underrated soundtracks.Trust me if it had been released 6 years earlier and by Disney every kid would adore that soundtrack!

she is one of the best artists of all time

i truly wish it wasnt such a tragic death i have her third album...which is her most famous. But truly i personally feel she surpasses Janet in terms of consistency and genuinity in her lyrics and vocals. The Queen Of R&B

sadly missed. Very nostalgic for me also x x x

I'm having a total Aaliyah moment, I'm listening toall her hits, she was just amazing and from such a young age. I think the R&B landscape would be very different if Aaliyah was still around!

Love Aaliyah's music. Give me her songs over any of today's contemporary RnB artists.

Such a talented, beautiful young girl. She was on a verge of becoming a superstar when her life was tragically cut short.

One of my favourite Aaliyah song - We Need A Resolution

Aaliyah was great.

Journey To The Past is a lovely song, and I agree that it's just as good as the best Disney songs.

She really was great and I too think she was on the verge of becoming massive. "The One I Gave My Heart To" showcases her vocals brilliantly. "Journey.." is a great song though. I remember buying it on cassette - 99p from Ourprice.

I remember buyingthe cassette, it must be somewhere in this house...if I found it the nostalgia would be overwhelming.

I honestly believe if she was still alive today she would be at legendary status!

Aaliyah was indeed effortlessly cool - a very fitting description and the album she brought out the summer she died was WAY ahead of its time. It just sounded so different and fresh compared to what her contemporaries were releasing at that time. I was just getting into her music when she died and then couldn't bring myself to listen to her album again
I love Rock The Boat but again can't really listen to it without feeling sad..and she looks so breathtakingly beautiful in the video.
I agree too that she would be massive if she was around today.

It is a waste, her 3rd album was easily the best R&B album to come out in 2001. Yet even now it sounds quite ahead of its time, Beyonce's obviously talented but if Aaliyah lived- no brainer who would have surpassed who.

Couldn't agree more, I listened to her last album the other day and if it were to be released today it would probably only need some minor tweeking to bring it up to date!

her Aaliyah album always vets played in the summer

I also think what you guys think that R&B would be a totally different scene if she were alive I mean she would have definitely sold as much as Britney in comparison! I mean she was JUST getting to her height of popularity and her life was cut short

I NEED to get her previous albums. love the links guys thanks so much!

It is nostalgic...and hard to think that summer 2001 when i JUST got into her (was 9 at the time) she died like within a month!

Regardless of what people say. Aaliyah was one of the most tragic deaths in the history of music! because it was so sudden.

I don't see why we have to shade Beyoncé just to try and emphasise Aaliyah's talent, she proved her talent all by herself.

Anyway, here is a cute video of Beyoncé interviewing Aaliyah.

Rest in peace Aaliyah!

thanks for the link. it is cute. i agree there is no reason to make comparisons.

however, that is human nature. although there seems to be a resounding respect for this artist. which is a first for this forum!

i can`t express my particular love for her first album. it was so good. i liked the way she progressed also. it was natural and slick.

i agree. my personal favourite was `try again`. everything about that song was just right. the song was impossible to put into words! the video is just memorising, the moves and styling.

Definitely wasn't trying to make some sort of fan war, while they're both R&B they appeal to different audiences for different reasons.
