Joking aside, I thought he was good, but just another person who will eventually be found out. The fact is that he needs to be seen again to really be judged. He did well with a song that clearly suited him and could hide any weakness that he actually had in his voice. It happened last year with a guy I cant remember the name of, pretty decent first audition and people had hope, got to the live stages and performed his own song and bombed big time with one of the worst singing performances in the shows history. I can see this guy not being far from that, hyped big time at the start, only to show that if he really takes on a test of a song, he'll be found out.

Taking nothing away from the guy, because it's not like he was bad or anything, but I personally cant see him winning this show.”

Another act last year who was pushed too hard (and too far, imo) was Janey Cutler. The show was obsessed with marketing her as the next Susan Boyle ('Nubo') but she clearly was not in Susan's league and at times appeared to be confused about what she was even doing on the programme.

I think Michael Collings is hugely overrated, he was nothing special. Yes he had a good voice and played the guitar well but he's no Susan Boyle!

He hopes to buy a place in the sun after this, And wants to buy his parents a new home, He also wants to give his children everything he can,
Wow. Imagine all the things he will do after he sings a second song!!!!

I wasn't particularly keen on his singing. The papers made out he was brilliant! Just goes to show what a pile of crap they talk.

The acid test will be after the show is over for him however far he goes and once that happens we will see if he sells records or falls into insignificance. I thought he was great but lets be honest most people with a decent voice can make a well known already popular song sound good, the ability to write and perform or even perform a song written for you and come up with a hit is a lot harder as most of the x-factor finalists have come to realize.

Once the initial fascination is over they generally disappear.

The test will be the next round - SuBo fell apart in her semi-final (though got insane praise from the judges!) and showed that, at that point in time, she could only really perform that one song. I fear the same may be true of him.

If he had come out at his first round audition and sang / played like that *looking like a pop star* then he would never even have gotten to the judges' stage.

Its interesting how Fast Car was number four mid week. Your'e not going to tell me it has nothing do with Michael singing the song on the show?

I think people forget that the whole point of this show is to find someone who will perform at the Royal Variety Show (although I often think that the prize is worth a lot less than actually winning the TV programme. Funny that.)

So, if their future career stalls, then basically so what? They won a competition and the prize was to peform before the Queen. Why be greedy?

I thought he was 'average' - the same as many other singers. It seemed to me that the only reason the audience raved over him was simply because he wasn't cr*p!

It certainly sounded as though they had been listening to an awful lot of it throughout the day.

Subo was the same for me, she had a decent voice but nothing that special, if she hadn't looked the way she did then, I'm sorry, but I don't think she would have got through the auditions even.

If I hear the judges say "oh, I wasn't expecting anything from you" once more I will scream though. It is extremely rude, they are showing their own ignorance in prejudging people by appearance and should at least be ashamed enough of that to keep it to themselves!
