What is the difference between a KDL40EX503 and a 603?
Hi,
I am thinking of getting a Sony Bravia KDL40EX503 or 603 Does anyone know the difference? I think I am right in saying the 503 is the same as the 403, just with 100Hz motionflow added. What benefits does the 603 offer? Thanks in advance. |

The main difference seems to be that ithe 603 employs LED edge lighting making it slimmer but from a quick check on AV forums some users have stated that there is an issue with shadows as a result. Unless you need to wallmount it, (or like looking at the side of your TV,) I'd advise against the 603.
Apart from that they're pretty much identical - apart from the 503 being significantly cheaper - as little as £530 for the EX503 V £700 for the 603. Top tip - Sony seem to be doing their trade-in offer this year again. (God bless the world-wide recession .) This means you can get £100 off a 40" TV - if the retailer supports the promotion. The great thing is that the tv you exchange can be in any condition so pop down to your local flea-market and find a cheap portable for a £5/10 and you can exchange it - which is what I did last year

The KDL-40EX503 also has 100Hz motionflow which the KDL-40EX603 does not, so it depends on your priorities, slimmer edge lit display or slightly chunkier display with better motion handling.

Thanks for your replies
![]() I went for the 503 and got the £100 trade in with a set I bought from a charity shop on the way. (Richer sounds told me on the phone the trade in had to be for a working set so I could not trade in my old broken set, but when I got to the shop they told me they could take broken sets!) |
