Jamie Woon - Mirrorwriting
Jamie Woon's debut album Mirrorwriting is released today, and I was wondering if anyone is planning on or has already bought it? I've bought it, and I personally think it is brilliant! It is a breath of fresh air to listen to in the midst of the current 'electro-synth-club' trend of music.
My favourite tracks are Middle and Gravity. I actually teared up a bit while listening to Gravity! |

I bought it but wasn't expecting much from it to be honest... Completely blew me away... He has one of the best male soul voices I've heard in a long time and is a very talented producer... Comparisons to James Blake have been bandied about a lot but once you hear both albums you will realise that they are VERY different... Blake's album is very much about production and effect whereas with Woon's album the vocals are what shine through... I would definitely recommend both albums as they are both great and both very different!

i HAVE THE ALBUM!
arrived this sunny morning. I played it before i went to the beach. I really didnt know what to expect. but i am so glad i bought it on the strength of what i heard with Night Air and Lady Luck as well as live performances. This album sounds very dark Electronica meets Soul. His vocals just ease through seamlessly and seriously he is offically my favourtie Male Solo Artist out there right now! I mean throughout the album he sustains an interest. I think as a whole the album works very well and keeps consistent, ( only heard twice today) It is the sort of album to play on these Summer evenings, it is somewhat Magic but plays like a Fairys Nightmare (if that makes sense) like magic but in a very dark soul kinda way. Will post a review on Amazon before good Friday! have a few more listens.Well that is another album thats rockin my year! (Adele, Britney, Jessie, Clare, The Naked & Famous all ticked thus far!) now got Lady gaga, Friendly Fires, Stevie Nicks and Natalia Kills to go! and my summer playlist is ready!!!! |

Resurrected the thread just to keep all the Jamie discussion together - bought the album before and my God, this guy is amazing! Can't believe I never knew of him before. This is going to get played a LOT by me. Shoulda and Lady Luck are the standouts. 10/10

Haven't got round to getting this yet... from Night Air (which is stunning) and Lady Luck I was tempted, so good to hear the whole album went down well with DSers. Onto Amazon I go!

It's a great album, definitely worth the buy! Jamie is so underrated, he has a very unique style and a great voice that deserves to be heard. Loved Night Air and Lady Luck, and Shoulda, Middle, Street and TMRW are also my favourite tracks
