Kelly I think you've pointed out something reallly significant there. Its a 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus' moment. John, like many men, wants to be the strong partner in the relationship, he loves it when Josie is totally reliant on him. Hence all the banter about her being less intelligent than him, and his obsession with doing so much for her after the show - I'm sure that she has benefited from all the OK shoots - I beleive he did do those for her.
And just maybe its part of the reason for the split. As Josie has become established (to a certain extent) in her OK TV job and with her perfume and clothing range (and I know this could just be short-lived flirtation with fame and sucess), she's been less dependent on John.....she hasn't needed him in the same way, and he feels lost and rejected. Unable to cope with these emotions, he's become less tolerant of the differences between them. Result: conflict, argument, fights.
One day, when they are both older and wiser, they just might be able to see this. I hope so, because I can't bear to think of them hating each other!”
Absolutely. Josie said how John was old fashioned.
BIB - That made me think of this track (with an incredibly apt video)...
Get Older - Tom Williams & The Boat
Watch to the end.
