T-Mobile going downhill?

I signed up for a 24 month contract with T-Mobile a few months back. Previously I had been with them and they had been really good - mobile data was quick, customer services were good and everything worked as it should.

Fast forward to today and the mobile data speed is so inconsistent - the difference between it and 3 all over the country is huge, rarely is it quick. Seems to have got worse since they bought in Orange signal share.

Also, customer services although still OK , can't follow simple instructions. I emailed to sort a problem with my voicemail (which incidentally I solved myself)

They had a little tick box asking if you would prefer a call or an email (I chose the latter as I work funny hours sometimes and don't want to be woken when I forget to put my phone on silent)

But they still called (though to be fair they did email to say I didn't answer!)

As I said, they used to be really good, and I hope they go back to being that way as I have 19 months to go on my contract!

they certainly arent the company they were. Dialling 150 on your phone used to get you through to a helpful North Eastern or Scottish Customer service assistant. Now it takes you through an automated hell hole and the only way to speak to a real person (usually at the other side of the world) is by reporting a problem with your phone.

Can't say I've noticed any deteriation in the actual internet or voice service provided though.

With the A T & T purchase they might soon, at least for value.
A T & T are renowned for having very high prices.

Totally agree with the mobile internet. For the past 2 months the data speeds and pings have been pathetically slow. Even when I have a full HSDPA signal it can take ages to load google or the facebook app. When I first got my phone in April 2010 I was very impressed with the mobile internet. Now it's a joke. I definately won't be renewing.

The customer services are an absolute joke! I was put on the wrong tariff. There was a promotion last June for a business unlimited 30 plan but included internet. From the get go I have been on the wrong tariff and every single month without fail since last June I have gone into the T-mobile shop I got the tariff from and they have to ring on my behalf and discount my line rental and every month another customer service agent says they have put me on the right tariff but when my bill comes it's wrong again! Every time I ring in to try save me the time going to the shop i'm called a liar as the tariff doesn't exist!

Wife's phone broke yesterday, so she has waited in all day for a replacement phone only to be rang at 16:50 to be told the delivery isn't coming! She gets some arrogant git giving her attitude who has obviously had a bad day.

We started off ever so nice, we have always believed you have to be nice to get anywhere but they're that bad an offensive we do it back now! The Scottish centres are the worst the attitudes from them leaves a lot to be desired, they're in customer services for crying out loud!

That only affects their operations in the USA, in the UK they've merged with ( or been partially bought out by) Orange

AT&T are only going to buy T-Mobile USA - nothing to do with T-Mobile UK at all.

T-Mobile UK is owned by Everything Everywhere, a 50-50 joint venture between France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, which was created when the businesses of Orange UK and T-Mobile UK merged last year.

Edit - Richard_T beat me to it! lol

That's good to hear it's only brand confusion.Of course t-mobile UK getting very competitive with PAYG data might have made things slower for almost everyone.

Interesting roughly the Original owners of Orange Hutchison started the Three network and have invested loads in it recently, making it a very strong 3G network. Orange went downhill when the French bought them, and the Three network has taken a good few years to come up to speed.

This year it has turned into profit for the first time and has increased customers a lot. I'm happy to offer my custom to a network that is investing in 3G.

Yes, a Network with very limited coverage where I live. And terrible CS. I was very happy to wave bye bye to Three.

Three was always ahead of everyone but 3G but few people wanted to pay £500 for a smartphone.
And even when they did they were then contract tied to a slow network elsewhere.

That's my view.

I too am a fan of 3, would go back today if I could. But I am tied to T-Mobile for a fair while.

The main thing I use my phone for is the internet etc, Three were brilliant with their speeds.

I too had issues with the CS, very selling orientated, but if you persisted, you got there in the end

Thoroughly disappointed when they moved support to India. The old UK support team were excellent to deal with, whereas this lot are a nightmare. Called them up in February to negotiate a new contract, but the woman down the other end didn't have a clue how do deal with what I was after. After several minutes of frustration and difficulty with accents, she put me through to someone in the UK and my contract was sorted immediately.

If only companies would realise that outsourcing to another country might be cheaper, but that price shouldn't be everything.

I personally love Vodafones data network. Get regular speeds of 3.5-4.5MBit/sec, and upload of 1.5-2.5MBit/sec.

Uploads a photo to Facebook in 3 seconds. Happy to pay a premium for a quality service

I'm a Vodafone customer and I have been having major issues with the 3G network going down every few days, this has been an issue for months yet I live virtually central to London.

Three does seem to be picking up pace especially where it comes down to prices and allowances for Smart Phones. Saying that my friend lives next to me and when Vodafone 3G goes down so is Three mobile as well. When I have my Three dongle it worked great and had a huge allowance for internet usage yet it seems something is seriously going wrong for all networks and the signal quality just recently in this country.
