Shane Ritchie best dramatic performance!
Well, actually not really...BUT! Lots of posters are intent on slating him, but, if you listened to his dialogue, he wasnt given alot to work with - basically he was a sounding board/stepping stone for Jessie Wallace to get her (presumed) BSA award.
I actually think his resigned performance was a truthful performance with what he had to work with. Married to someone so damn high-maintenence as her plus adding the whole baby story thingamy, I think his quieter performance was alot more realistic. And usually I'm non-plussed with his er, comedy style. His performance imo, was a more realistic portrayal of someone who's 'been thru the mill'/exhausted with whats happened over the past few months. |

Credit where credit is due I thought it was the best performance he has ever given on Eastenders. It's shown his character isn't completed wooden and one sided.

I thought he pulled it out of the bag last night and was brilliant.
And the perfect balance to Kat; I thought the script was good with the daft surrealness of "Tommy turning into a kipper", the sort of thing you need to say in those situations where the emotion threatens to overwhelm you, Very well done. As I wrote elsewhere I gave up on Stenders years ago - when they couldn't let anyone be happy, or happily single, for five minutes, but I love the romance of Alfie and Kat and wish they could just quietly be the warm heart at the centre of the Vic and the Square with only occasional drama. They don't need to overuse Kat/JW's big acting skills, the point is these are ordinary people with big hearts. |

I think he always works best when he's contrasted against Kat. Some people said Nana Moon dying was his best performance back in 2005 I totally disagree I think that was very cringey. I MUCH prefer him in scenes where he's contrasted against Jessie acting her backside off. Their two hander in 2004 springs to mind and the two/three hander after the "mofie" reveal and most recently funeral eps and the aftermath of the death eps where he's playing Kat's rock. He said himself various times he works best with Jessie because he tries to raise his game because she raises the bar. I think that's sweet and it totally shows. I think he's much better playing quiter, hurting husband whos trying to hold together his falling apart wife then he plays cheeky chappy cockney guy.
I'm not a fan of alfie or shane but credit where credits due I admitt he's been great through this storyline. |

hes up for best actor. Its not like his efforts are not forgotten about. Sam is the only one of the four not up for an award and she was the best!! Makes no sense.

he was great but he's already up for best actor so he shouldn't get best DP, that has to go to Sam Womack seeing as she's been left out of the best actress nominations

everyone I tell when I mention who is up for the acting awards, reply "Shane Richie can't act"
Shane must have one hell of a fan base out there to vote for him! |

I think its between Sam and Gillian Wright for best dramatic performance. I don't think anyone else on the other soaps comes close to either of these two so that's surely another award for EE? Unless EE gets shunned by the panel to hand out token awards to the other soaps which I think is often the case due to EE always ruling the public vote.
Its very unfair. It's well known that many of the public voting awards are down to multi voting by celebrity obsessed teens. At least this way is a more democratic one person one vote. Which IMO is a fairer way to do it. I would love to see the end of mass voting as it is grossly unfair. |

Why would you assume that if a panel of judges opinions differ from your own then that means it's a token award ?

I just can't get over my dislike for the character to see a 'creditable' performance.

Many sites have the tecnology these days to stop multi voting. Infact the NTA site said anymore than 5 votes from one IP address and all votes from that IP would be discounted.
We aren't in the dark ages anymore. It's the same with so called 'talent shows, I have read on these boards that people will vote dozens of times for the same person, so how can that be a true picture of public opinion ![]() But of course telephone votes generate money for the TV company so I don't suppose it will ever end
