Got an LG Optimus 7 and am having issues, First of I enter my WEP key and it says its incorrect Its not.

I then try to connect it to the computer, I get an error about being unable to find driver on all 3 USB ports, and thats where we are at at the moment.

After much faffing about I got it to sync with my computer by having to download drivers from LG. Next it comes to updating and another bloody nightmare

Finds an update, goes through the process get to step 6 and then we get an error 801812C, i've done the deleting drivers, skipping searching for driver but damn all works.

Wifi also only working on unsecured, I thought these phones were supposed to be user friendly?

Did you only just get one? Do you have Zune installed and all possible Windows updates? What OS are you running?

Everything's worked flawlessly for me so far. It should auto-install drivers, might take a little bit of time but it does do it.

Also why are you using WEP and not WPA?

Ok right well got it updated, Turns out it was iRecovery an iPhone program buggering it up. Still no joy on WiFi on either WEP or WPA, I've been searching all evening, and have found a few reports but no one seems to has a cure. Seems to effect Samsung and LG phones, HTC seem to be fine

I take it your SSID is visible not hidden and you don't have MAC address filtering or anything else enabled on your router? Enough addresses in the DHCP pool to dish out?

I've seen Dell Venue Pros have WiFi issues, not really seen any other problems apart from not being able to connect to networks with hidden SSIDs.

You know you can install apps via the Zune software right? You can sync all your multimedia and install apps using it.

Apart from these teething issues you're having, how are you finding it so far? I find it perfectly adequate for "normal" phone use. In competitive terms, there's still much to catch up with iOS and Android, but by the time Mango comes around, it should be fairly competitive.

It has some nice hardware, its a nicely polished OS, however its really let down in the app department, its even behind symbian I would say. I couldn't even find a decent news app, they are all rubbish made by bedroom developers, in fact alot of apps are like that, very little official.

For news try Weave, costs £2.49. There's also an unofficial BBC News one and an ITN one.

If you want recommendations for other app categories, let me know.

Here's a few: I like the Kindle app, Shazam and Last.fm are free on WP7 (you have to pay on other platforms AFAIK), I use Beezz for twitter, capital FM for streamed radio, flickr for photos, flixster and IMDB for movies, London Travel for the tube, MusicShark for grooveshark streaming, poynt for restaurants, saynoto0870, silver navigator for satnav, taxiroute GB as a taxi fare calculator, Weave for news.

Yes, the apps are few but they are growing and the store is growing faster than Android did at the same stage in its lifecycle.

As more people buy into the platform there will be more apps and also the release of Mango releases many APIs developers were waiting for to make their apps.

Yeah, I note from your earlier posts you're coming from an iPhone. Apple has the biggest appstore so you're going to feel the difference.

Some of the things that are coming like deep linking tiles (tiles that go directly to specific areas within an app) look interesting.

But yeah WP7 is currently a platform for people with the patience to see it grow. For people wanting all functionality right now, iOS and Android are the way to go.
