Now here's a funny (Android) problem
Last week my Android Phone (A pulse mini with a custom ROM) decided it wasn't going to play any sound over the speaker. This started on Sunday but cleared itself on Tuesday morning. I could still use the phone to make & recieve calls and sounds played through headphones.
This week exactly the same happened - no sound (media, notifications, ringtones etc) from some time on Sunday until about 7:30 this morning. Anyone have any thoughts? |

That sounds more like "a Pulse Mini with unnamed custom ROM problem" or "speaker problem" rather than an Android problem. What is the custom ROM? Does a soft reset start/stop it from working? Did you try a factory/hard reset? Have you tried a different ROM? What last software change did you make before this started happening?
If the sound is coming through the headphones, it could well be a loose wire or the speaker going bad. Going by what you've said, it would be hard to tell. |

Hahaha that is a funny story.
Seriously though sounds like a custom Rom issue rather than an android issue. |

It does make me laugh too when I see comments either moaning about Android or their phone make when they have such issues OP got when they loaded their phone with a custom Rom. Don't get me wrong, I used them in the past but you got to expect that something won't work smoothly in them.
Instead of saying Android got a problem, you should speak on the forum which you got the custom rom from and speak to the dev to get it sorted. |

Sorry if you thought I was moaning about Android. I'm not, I love it! I've got the phone and an (unmodded) Android tablet.
Perhaps I should have worded it better. (It's the Fresh Zodiac Fruit ROM BTW and soft reset doesn't cure it). I'm leaving it until this Sunday to see if it happens again and, if it does, at what time which may help me work out what's causing it. I've got a feeling it's something to do with alarms as I have one set for Tuesday mornings. |

Try the Celestial Teapot to see if that helps.
As good as custom ROMs are they certainly introduce their fair share of problems. |

To me this sounds like some sort of “do not disturb” setting between a given time.
I have not come across this myself but like they say “there’s an app for that”.

Of course it IS an Android problem and is something you would never get get with iOS. And it is one of the reasons that 6 months after meeting Android I have deided to marry it as I love it that much. You see both my phones (Orange San Francisco and Xperia X10) are way way better running custom ROMs than stock. Of course there will be issues but because of its wonderful open sourceness there is a large community there to iron out the issues.
Right im off to book the register office for me an Andi's big day. Of course I'm not 100% sure of the gender so if Andi turns out to be Andy then it will have to be a civil partnership. |
