Is anyone going to use the new subscription service when it launches?

Or are there too many free alternatives out their now like Audiogalalxy and Kazaa? (Please don't turn this thread into a mine is better than yours one)

I would definately recommend Morpheus, it's free to use, plenty of resources, and if you pick your source well, you can download in no time.

I thought these answers would be the general opinion. I posted this thread because on Napsters website it said people have been showing their support by downloading Napster as an audio player WTF, haven't these people heard of winamp?

I don't think there will be many people prepared to pay for something that they can get for free somewhere else. I know I wouldn't. I spend all my time on Morpheus, think it is fantastic. Don't know what I did before I found out about it. Oh yes I do, I paid extortionate amounts of money for CD's that I can now get for free.

i use winMX.( www.winmx.com )

You can find pretty much any song, and if the internet is cut off, you can carry on where you left off.

It's great for videos too

You can pause downloads on Morpheus too if your connection is about to run out. As for videos, there are the odd few that upload onto this site and don't name their files correctly. Just recently there has been a big problem with people passing porn off as Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone and with no way of viewing the file as you download it, I expect there were a few people in for a shock.

To furthur this, does anyone still buy CD's as well as downloads. I do becuase you can't beat buying a CD with all the packaging and a jewel case. I tend to get one or two songs from an artist and if I like them buy the CD.

I honestly cannot remember the last CD I bought. As for CD singles, the price of those are outrageous, and when it can take all of 30 seconds to download off the net, why go through the hassle of traipsing through town when you can stay in the comfort of your own home.

This is purely my opinion, and as soon as the record companies / movie studios start charging what I would consider reasonable for their products I'll be boycotting them.

Morpheus? Unless you want to find about 1 match, if that, at 128kbps or less for your song, forget it.....Audiogalaxy is far better, although you can't always get around the copyright restrictions.
Morpheus is too picky with its searches eg type manic in and it will ignore anything with the word manic in - only finds something like "manic street", not "manics", and is very limited in how many it can find anyway.

I agree with xenole, the search facility on Morpheus is appaling, it really lets down an otherwise great programme.

Winmx is ok, you always get loads of results(unlike morpheus). However, you tend to be put in a que all the time which is really frustrating; with Morpheus you hardly ever have to que.

Audio Galaxy is naff and way over-rated. Finding a song is tedious, downloading a song can take ages,it contains spyware, and finally, no videos!

I use Morpheus the most, but if i'm after a rare(ish) track then i load up Winmx.
