TV set up help needed PLEASE
Please help with TV set up.
We are confused as to the best way for setting up our system. 1/ TV = Samsung 47" Plasma 2/ Sky HD 3/ Sony Home theatre system 5.1 (HT-SF100) 4/ Sony Blu-ray player (1 x HDMI, 1 x Coaxial, 1 x Optical) Can someone tell me how to connect each device for the best video and audio? |

1/ TV = Samsung 47" Plasma
2/ Sky HD 3/ Sony Home theatre system 5.1 (HT-SF100) 4/ Sony Blu-ray player (1 x HDMI, 1 x Coaxial, 1 x Optical) Sony Blu-ray player: HDMI cable from Blu-ray to HT-SF100 input labeled BD This will do picture & sound Sky HD: HDMI cable from Sky box to TV. This will do picture & stereo sound so you can watch Sky on the TV without having the surround kit on. High quality surround sound from Sky HD: Optical cable from Sky box to HT-SF100 input labeled OPT IN SAT This is a sound only connection. Put your TV on the HDMI input for picture and then turn down the TV volume. Put the HT-FS100 on and switch to the SAT input for sound, [Note: you need to set the Sky box audio option to DOLBY and then save the new setting] HT-SF100 to TV: Use a HDMI cable from the HDMI socket labeled OUT on the HT-FS100 to one of the HDMI inputs on the Samsung TV. |

Thanks for your quick reply.
With the connections all in, we are getting 'mode not supported' on HDMI1 when we put on the Blu-Ray. The only way we seem to be able to get a picture on the TV if we want to Watch a DVD is by adding an S Video connection from the Blu-Ray to the TV....! |

Have you made sure the BD input is selected on the HT-SF100 and that the correct HDMI input is selected on the TV?

Also, I can only go to HDMI1 as HDMI2 is for our Sky HD. |

I'm not sure how to select the BD input on it! I really need an idiot's guide!
Also, I can only go to HDMI1 as HDMI2 is for our Sky HD. http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4130029131.pdf It explains how to connect it all up. if you have the Blu-Ray player connected to the BD IN HDMI socket on the back of the unit and the OUT socket (see page 19) connected to the telly then all you should need do is press the BD button on the remote (page 8) and select whichever HDMI on the telly the HT-ST100 is plugged into. |

Also, I can only go to HDMI1 as HDMI2 is for our Sky HD. 1) Pick up the Sony HT-SF100 remote control 2) Find the button marked "BD" - this is the button for the Blu-Ray Disc input. 3) Press "BD" A couple of observations The fact that you are talking about HDMI1 and HDMI2 suggests to me that you are switching the inputs on the TV rather than the Sony HT-SF100. |

Source selection on the Sony seems fairly straightforward.....

What happens if you plug the Blu-Ray player directly to the TV? Do you get the same message?
And what is the model number of the player, that might help if you need help setting it up. |

Hi - we've tried plugging the Blu-Ray player directly to the TV but we get the same message. The model no. of the Blu-Ray is BDP-S3000.
If the Sky box does not work either then you will need to dive into the set up of the TV and try and find the section relating to the HDMI inputs and tweak it's settings. If it is the player though, do you mean BDP-S300? Sony's website does not seem to recognise a BDP-S3000. If it is the S300 then you need to go into the System menu and select the Video settings menu and check the settings there. This is described in the manual here http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3214800131.pdf Click on Changing The Initial Settings on the left or scroll down to page 44. On page 46 it describes the various video formats. Try setting 1080i or Source Direct, or even 720p You may need to use the S-Video connection you mentioned earlier to actually see the menu. See if that makes any difference to the HDMI connection. |
