Help connecting Home Cinema System to Sky and TV
Hey there, I'm thinking of buying this Blu Ray home cinema system: Quote:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-HB405SU-B.../ref=de_a_smtd The TV I have is the LG PK590 (built in Freeview HD):Specs: Blu-ray - Yes USB recording - Yes AUX input - Yes HDMI Out - Yes USB - Yes Composite Out - Yes Component Out - Yes Ethernet - Yes Digital (optical) input - Yes http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/image/hdtv...onnections.jpg And the Sky box I have is the really old one; 2 scart connections, red and white ports, and three circular ports. Now my question is, how do I connect these three devices, so that both the inbuilt Freeview HD from the tv, as well as the sky box, outputs to the home cinema system so that I can continue to switch, via my tv remote, between the TV's Freeview HD and the Sky box? I've read elsewhere there's no point in connecting the sky box to the home cinema because it doesn't output 5.1 anyway, only stereo, but I'd like to have all 5 speakers working with the sky box. Any help would be appreciated! |

The telly has a Digital Optical Out. The Cinema system has Digital Optical In. That should give you one option at least.
Chances are the telly will relay the sound from the Sky box to the optical out so you will get audio from that simply by switching the telly to watch Sky. I do something vaguely similar with my LG telly and Humax PVR connected via SCART to the TV, with optical connection from TV to my surround amp. There is no connection from the Humax to the surround amp But the telly relays the sound from the SCART anyway so none is needed. Be surprised if your TV didn't also output sound from the SCART inputs to the digital output. If you use the ProLogic option on the cinema system then that will create a surround effect from the Sky box's stereo output. Can be quite effective depending on the source material. even more so if the sound track contains surround information encoded in it. |
