Advice on Samsung TV

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to buy a 32" TV for my bedroom and I have about £300 to spend. Ive found this Samsung HD Television which looks ideal. Its the LE32C450. Anyone had any experience of it? If noone has anything too negative to say I'm going to go ahead and get it this evening!

I got one in the New Year Sales from Richer Sounds for the bedroom. It's a TV. Not much more to say except that, surprisingly it does not have a headphone socket.

well as long as there arent any stand out negatives then Ill go ahead! Just thought I'd check, sometimes these things have recurring problems.

I'm guessing it's probably too late to add this now, but that TV is not Full HD. It's only 720, not full fat 1080.
Depending on your budget, when looking at buying an HDTV, I would always recommend Full 1080HD.

FWIW ... I think 720p should be restricted to portable sized TVs of 28 inches or less. Having said that,
a secondary HDTV I bought recently, is a Samsung XL2270, with a 21.5 inch Full 1080HD screen.

I would suggest you start off by getting your figures right

That set isn't a 720 pixel set, almost none are (or ever were) - it's a 768 pixel screen, as almost all HD Ready sets are.

It's also perfectly fine for HD, either broadcast or BD - Full HD really makes very little difference, and to be even able to see the difference requires you to view from even closer than normal for HD.

A decent quality HD Ready (768) set will out perform a cheap Full HD (1080) set anyway - so check the pictures, don't blindly read the figures, or imagine that 'bigger must be better'.

I agree with this... I understand that nothing broadcast on Freeview (wildly assuming that's what the user will be watching!) is anywhere near Full 1080 HD anyway. Except of course the "HD" channels.

I have a Samsung 42" plasma which is only HD ready and I have to admit the picture looks FAR superior to my friend's all singing and dancing full HD. Dunno why, it just does.

As for this particual model (the 450), my mum bought one yesterday from John Lewis / Waitrose for £249 which INCLUDES a 5 year guarantee. Picture looks great (not as good as my plasma though ha ha!)
