I have been with Vodafone on my second phone for many years now and never had a single problem with their website, Topping up credit or their network in general.
I always assumed I used alot of data but after actually monitoring how much data I use in reality per month over a few months I have discovered It actually works out better value for me to be on VF with my main phone.
I average 300-400mb per month data and 200-300 texts and people mostly call me so not much in outbound calls at all.
I have also been added to my partners Vodafone Family so the majority of calls I do make are 'free'
I can get 500mb data / 300 texts for a £10 top up aswell as keeping the £10 so within 3 months I will most likely have accumulated at least £25 credit for any other call I have to make after 6 months I will likely have near on £60 so in effect I will never run out of credit and I wont be paying for something I'm not actually using.
I very rarely send MMS, maybe 1 or 2 a year so 36p makes no difference and I wouldn't call 08 numbers from my mobile anyway, I'd use my housephone so that is no issue
I don't constantly bother Customer Services but whenever I have called 191 they have been very polite, helpful and resolved my query straight away.
Vodafone's online forum (yes, they have one aswell) is neat, well presented and actually helpful where as giffgaff's has been allowed to become a spam filled pit of bullsh*t IMO
with everyone posting identical, often useless or just plain wrong information in the hope of getting kudos points.
I'm leaving this thread now as I won't be drawn in to a my network is better than yours argument.
Which is the best network is totally subjective to the individual and IMO people should go with what serves them best.
I will say though that the concept of giffgaff is excellent but the implementation is dire.
