Humax HDR and Humax SCR lnb - full single cable use?
Has anyone tried using the HDR with a Humax SCR lnb on a single cable? This should give full operation on a single cable without the need for two feed cables.
Hybrid scr/standard lnb here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-LNB-15.../dp/B003H4WMEI |

I don't think the Humax PVR has SCR (Satellite Channel Router) capability. Only a limited number of STBs (mainly fta) seem to have it.
Saw on the Sky+ HD forum that someone had tried it on that and it didn't work. My understanding from reading the LNBs specs is it is designed for using a standard non-SCR compatible STB on the one feed and the other feed is used to cascade up to 4 SCR compatible STBs. http://www.mediasat.com/content.asp?L=3&IdMen=186 (model LNB 151 SCR is about halfway down the page) See also: http://binzou.com/2009/10/scr-lnb-satellite-channel/ |

The Humac boxes do have scr capability.
The diseqc capability states SCD (Single Cable Distribution) which afaik is the same as unicable. The icord on which the hdr is based certainly has this capability. However I remember Nigel Goodwin testing a hdr shortly after after launch with a scr lnb (imported from Germany). As I remember it results were a bit mixed, hopefully Nigel will post more details. |

They may have the capability but has it been activated? How do you access SCR or SCD? - there doesn't seem to be a menu option. Unless there is another secret menu or an Easter Egg we haven't found yet.
![]() According to SES-Astra's fact sheet (admittedly a year old) the Humax Foxsats aren't on the list of SCD supporting devices. http://www.ses-astra.com/resources/p...n_brochure.pdf Setup is using the standard antenna setting options as detailed in lots of places including here. http://www.astra2d.com/diseqc.html From the manual "When using a Motorised System, SCD Antenna (also known as Unicable), or SMATV please connect the cable to LNB 1 IN." An early attempt to use scr when such lnb's were as rare as hens teeth http://labs.pcw.co.uk/2008/11/humax-foxsat-hd.html A reference here to the Foxsat-HD http://bbcfreesathdtvblog.blogspot.c...multi-sat.html etc etc etc

I think it was Nigel Whitfield, not Nigel Goodwin.
.. scr covers a few different systems including the one used with multiswitch installations to allow up to two compatible sky pvrs on a single cable. Stand alone systems like the one the hdr purports to support is normally called SCD or unicable as I referred to in my original post and is pretty clear that's what DM was enquiring about. It was your comment about lack of support in the hdr/hd menus that was totally incorrect. Like diseqc support it's not giiven any coverage in the manual which is really aimed at Freesat only users. I doubt Humax customer support is equipped to give support to the boxes more esoteric functions. In any case there's nothing wrong with the OP, the box should support this mode of operation though it would seem pretty pointless using it with the single tuner hd for the average user. |
