LOL, it was a Muse song.

James was very Adam Lambert ......................... if Adam Lambert had very suddenly lost a large part of his vocal range and power, his performance skills and sense of rhythm, his dress and style sense, his charisma and had surgery to make himself look look like Wayne Rooney.

Hey all.

Currently watching American Idol for the first time this series. Haven't bothered with it until now but was a fan of the show in the past and was curious to see what talent would be on this year....

So far, I'm not convinced. Don't know if this is just an off night, obviously haven't seen the contestant's previous performances but that Haley girl just murdered Rolling in the Deep.
The 'Rocker' guy was ok. Already forgotten the first performance. Should I stay tuned or abandon? (I've come across really negative for a first post in this thread, sorry about that. Just genuinely not impressed so far.)

Yeah, James has no range and power

Cocked it up at the beginning, weak performance, Jacob could be in trouble this week

He doesn't have Adam's range and doesn't have much power at all behind his top notes.

James has a reasonable range (reasonable, nothing amazing) and his voice on high notes is reed thin. Not very powerful at all.

Jacob.....

Error made re moving that mic away, and looking to the side.

That voice is great though, and very good performance overall.

9/10

Steven likes him, thanks to him for saying that the break was a loss of track.

Randi...go-for-it!

Did someone put a fly in the judges soup or something, they are being rather picky tonight.

Just to butt in there, i thought Jacob did really well to bring it bk with the wrong backing track (did they play james backing track by mistake? with the drums etc!)

He's not far behind though, and if you don't think there is any power behind his top notes I don't know what to say. I love Adam AND James, I'm tired of the constant comparisons. They may have similar voices, but they're different kinds of artists.

Tribute acts are always a concern to an international platinum selling, multi-award winning and nominated artist.

Haha, I will indeed keep watching and go with it. Might as well see all the contestants. Always liked American Idol before. Interesting seeing it without the Cowell.

So who would be the favourite contestant this year, would you all say?

You do know that James was performing, and had the same style he has now, years before Adam even auditioned, right?

I caught a headline that said that Jacob had been screwed over by the show, (yeah I'm not so good at avoiding spoilers) I didn't read it though. I guess that's what it meant with the music.

The contestants reminded me of those leprechauns from Live and Kicking with those beards:

There are several not far behind, and no there isn't power behind James' top notes. If you hear power, I suggest you listen to James and not the backing singers or double tracking.

I'm tired of anyone thinking Adam and James can be compared. One is up there with the best of them, the other is down there with the rest of them. They are different artists (though I use the term for one of them losely) and do not have similar voices at all. You'd be better off comparing Adam to Rhydian.

Re favourite contestant... Scotty and Jacob for me. Casey, I think the judges like the best, just an impression.

Casey...rocking away. his voice seems to have got low though. Sound problems perhaps?

Don't think that song is Casey at his best....6/10

How is that relevant? Not sure I understand your point.

Oh, interesting that you just said that. Casey is the first one that I've enjoyed tonight. Not overwhelmingly great but decent enough.
I like the way he is coming across while the judges talk to him aswell.
