Considering what happened at the start of the song, he did very well. I loved how the judges did all they could to gloss over the fact that the wrong track had been played at the start. Poor Jacob thought it was in his earpiece but it was audible to everyone.
I wasn't expecting to see Haley there either. James' vocal in the second half of his song (the first half was good) deserved a bottom three place or less but the show would never let that happen if they can at all avoid it. They knew from dress rehearsal that James was going to struggle to get any control over those high notes so the pimping started from the moment the show started with focusing the camera on the handful of posters supporting James in the audience and the judges had to make out that the high notes had been actually good. All in all, I think it was Stefano's time to go.
