I Can Not Believe BT VISIONS SERVICE

Today our machine decided to give up,I then phones the so called technical service,That machine would not work,I then had to go through the same process after ten minutes oh i will have to send out a engineer,i then gave me the date of may the 6 yes may 6 for engineers to come out,I said what can you not just send a replacement box and i can change it my self and send the old one back,OOOOOO we don't do that because may be BOX is not faulty,Then explained that aim off to china on the 5 may,And asked would it be possible to book a engineer for the 17 when aim back in the UK,He said noooooooooo ?So first i cant get a replacement machine but BT are quiet happy to send self install KITS,But just in case BT think iam trying to twist them to get a new BOX iam not,Why would i bother in here writing my tails WOE.

I then asked to be put through the cancellation service i think that £96.to cancel all BT services.So that BT total broadband plus two mobile phones,bt vision bronze plus line rental.To wait two weeks for a engineer is absolutely CRAZY,I use BT and knowing it not cheapest service i use it because i use think it was the ROLLS ROYCE of telecommunications and one got GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE,We have had BT VISION since the start and have found it excellent But after today.We now have had a 2nd thoughts,My sister who is on sky as asking our views two weeks ago and we said yes its brilliant.but not now,her service contract is up at the end of may including phones and broadband

I phoned VIRGIN it will take two weeks to install from order if that true i dont no.I have always been with BT may it time that i changed.BY way with everything including billings and calls.That £1200.00 a year If some on from BT is reading this do want to loose our custom or do i order and take my custom to VIRGIN and take my mobile service to VODAFONE

ALL I WANT IS A NEW BOX THAT I CAN SELF INSTALL

I work at BT, sorry to hear the problems you have with the BOX, but tech help are right. You see what happens is the engineer will have to come out and confirm it is indeed the box and not something else that is faulty such as something in the house or the exchange

You see from a business point of view they could send out a box for no reason to find your Vision still does not work, in which you would still then end up needing an engineer and would have also had a new box sent out. The engineer would usually replace it if the fault lies with the box or even the powerline adapters

In regards to engineer booking times, due to us having to use openreach May does currently sound about right at the min

I know its not what you want to hear but you they won't send out a new box until it is confirmed as a fault with the box from the engineer

I hope you get it sorted soon though

Hello steve thanks for reply well it not the exchange or anything else at home as phone works and so does the internet its BOX very simple.

Practically every service will send an engineer out first, standard practice, Sky/Virgin both send an engineer out 1st (they usually have a new box with them tho)

2 weeks is a long time, not helped by the amount of bank holidays in such a short period of time, however with Sky I had to wait about 7 or 8 working days (no idea why I had to wait so long as i'm sure thats not normal practice), i'm sure without the bank holidays the waiting time would be significantly less, engineers like most don't like working bank holidays so mayube thats the reason

I think it's quite difficult for BT here. They only offer a budget TV service for those that require Freeview plus a little bit more. And yet when things go wrong, customers seem to expect a premium response, even though they haven't paid for such.

My own fault took 3 months to resolve, I wasn't happy with the service I recieved, so I voted with my feet and am now recieving an immesurably superior service, but I'm paying more for it.

You should do the same, if you can...

Until Sky or Virgin offer a service that gets anywhere near BTVision - I dont think anyone in the UK can beat it. (Perhaps YouView!)

If you don't have a aerial plugged into your BTVision box then of cause you are going to watch more VOD, unless you rent a load of DVD's

So people got to be taught on how to use the BT Vision box now? so much for ease of use.

I think you are in a dream there. If nothing could beat BTV, then why on earth is BT not getting the customers seeing how many people they got using their broadband service?

Sky got a lot more more choice, sure you have to wait for it to be transmitted, but you can record it and watch it when you like after that. Sky got film channels, sky got HD if that is what you want and you don't have to wait for the stuff to be downloaded.
Sky even got VOD, not sure what it is like mind you.

Sure Sky costs more, but you got a choice.

Never seen or used Virgin, so I have no idea what it is like.


If you want lots of choice, then Sky or virgin it is, if you want a cheaper system then it is BT Vision, not that I think it is so cheap when you add on BT Broadband.

Myself i went off the idea of paying for more T.v rubbish, bad enough paying the T.V licence

It gives you the choice of when you want to watch it and the choice of old stuff, but it have nothing new on. If you are the sort of person that want to watch the newest stuff then Sky is for you, if you want to just watch stuff 12 months or more behind that go for BTV.

Have you used or seen Sky Anytime+? I have not to be honest, so I have no idea what it do or don't offer, but no doubt in time it will offer more.

the problem with Sky Anytime lplus is that Sky have done what BT have done, in that people must use their own broadband service. Easy in Bt case as they have the monopoly in that area, but not so for Sky as many places still don't have LLU.


Not getting on Sky side if that what you think, I think Sky is just as much a waste of money as BT Vision.

Nope but thats not what I'm saying. I'm saying BTVision has lots more choice just as Sky & Virgin does.

You need to subscribe to any particular channel to watch any VOD on Sky which means if you want access to everything then you pay - alot. This also counts towards your download limits if you're on the wrong package.

Yeah - if you're not on Sky Unlimited then all VOD counts towards your download limits.

Box is fine these days. I've had mine since the day the service was launched. The software was buggy to start with but is now just fine - recently got BBC iplayer too and the client is fab - better than my TV & PS3 client.

My BB provider is BT and its unlimited. Sky BB in my area is far too slow.

Just looked into it a bit more. Amazingly it only offers 18 films !!!. There's hundreds and hundreds on BTVision.

That is true, that is what my friend did, just paid for the box and connection. but you have to be careful because you could end up with a large bill, with a lot of stuff over a quid.

If you're talking American imports then you're probably right in that area but not overall as your post suggests. Not into American Imports myself but thats just my taste.
I am not into American imports to be honest, I like some but not many, the problem is these days there is very little else, this country don't produce stuff like we used to.
