Sad cat question

I had to have one of my cats put to sleep today . He was only 5 years old. I'm going to miss that little guy.

I had two cat, they never got on and it was quite difficult to get them to even tolerate each other. As they got older, they pretty much ignored each other but had a kind of mutual respect for each others areas of the house and garden. So when the older cat died we didnt think the other would have a reaction. It was very strange, he seemed to get quite low for a long time and the oddest part was he barely made a noise for around a year - no meow or funny noises he used to make.
