Kat needs a good EP and a bunch of writers who watched the show before 2005. She's one of the show's best characters ever and what do they do to her? Lumber her with a baby upon her return and an affair with her husband's cousin? I cannot believe what I've been watching these past few months. There's more lows than highs and that's a real shame. |

Based on her whole story so far since her return, overall, it doesn't cut it for me.
I was really optimistic when BK first spoke about how much he loved Kalfie etc but maybe that's the whole problem he loved KALFIE the couple and he wanted them in the Vic but he didn't love both characters and love the idea of doing something really character driven and great with them - the babyswap hadn't been character driven and right from the start the minute Kat was pregnant by Alfie's cousin I knew it wasn't going to be a year of "getting" kat's character and building her up to be great again |

Or me! I remember saying this as far back as october but just kept telling myself give it a few more weeks to settle then by november it was wait for the baby swap then by feb it was it'll get better when she gets the baby back, now it's wait until things have settled with tommy, then no doubt it will be wait for shenice comes/goes

Exactly, I feel the same way, like I'm constantly waiting to be wowed by Kat. The *best* scene I've seen of Kat since her return, and I mean this, much better than anything in the baby swap, was her scene with Jean in the mental asylum. They had the chance to seriously take her off of the rails after she thought Tommy had died and they wasted it. In fact, they have the chance to do that right now. The most amount of drama we've had since Kat got Tommy back is 'oooh I don't know how to be a mum, I'm a bit scared'. Under Tony Jordan she'd be out partying, leave Alfie alone sitting at home with the baby, we'd get some real drama with her not knowing what to do, not believing Tommy is her son, not knowing how to love him as she thought he was dead. Instead we have walks in the park with Julie... God I'm bored!

washing up and walking around like a zombie she did the like the odd shot of alcohol but that wasn't because she's kat and they knew that's how she would behave that's because that's what everyone does EE when the going gets tough.Like you say even now we could have scenes of her being scared someones going to take tommy again and not being able to do things or not being able to believe she can do things with her baby as her own again this would have been character driven. Instead we've had a muddly scenario of her not wanting to say his name, not knowing whether to take him out and offering Jack to see him whenever, talk about plot driven. I agree the Kat/Jean scene was EASILY the best we've had and the closest we've had to old kat. Even so though we shouldn't have had to have been so wowed and amazed by it, back in the day it would have been standard procedure to get great kat scenes. Plus even that Kean scene didn't actually show us an insight to Kat Slater it just showed us the insight to a grieving mother than anyone could have actually said in that scenario. |

I think Jack being a possible godfather is a bad idea aswell. As if your gonna let him be one after what Ronnie put Kat thru. I know its not Jack's fault but I just don't think this is somethink the old Kat would do.

100% agree I'm so glad you're on my wavelength Katwise. One of the reasons I was so looking forward to the swap was because I honestly believed Kat would totally go off the rails and we would get to see oldschool Kat with her partying hard and drinking shite loads in an attempt to block out her pain before finally breaking down and blaming herself. THAT would have been true to her character and plot driven and what we would have got under tony jordan, instead we got her cooking

You're right, they really wasted the chance to have Kat breakdown after Tommy's "death". Most of the time she spent staring into space, or snapping at Alfie. But, I'm glad we didn't see the BIB, to be honest. They've messed up Kat's character enough already. We don't need yet more reasons for people to say, "Ooh, poor Alfie, Kat's such a bitch, she doesn't deserve him!"

Exactly, we are TOTALLY on the same page where Kat is concerned. If they put me in charge, I could easily come up with 10 plots that don't concern Alfie or a baby and are character driven for Kat... A plot where Kat finds out Harry had a son after he comes looking for the Slaters and wanting to know stuff about his father would provide us with drama based on Kat's abuse and seeing how she reacts to this. A plot where Chrissie gets out of jail and blackmails Kat into helping her settle back into the square (would require Tracey-Ann coming back). Or simply introduce Belinda again and have Kat help her with her divorce against Neville. They've backed Kat into a corner by tying her down with a husband and baby, but that doesn't mean she can't have other drama.

Whatever people say, Kat's a great character and she's there to provide drama. Some of my favourite scenes of Kat have been where she was being a total bitch to either Alfie or Zoe or whoever is in sight. She's not there to tell people like Jack Branning he can see her son whenever he likes just because his nutty wife decided to swap his dead baby for her's. Realistically, Kat would have chucked him out and told him not to come back. She doesn't know he didn't know about the swap and even if she does, she should be scared out of her wits after what happened.

I actually really like that Harry son idea too! I don't think Kat/Mo is being used AT ALL either, Mo's barely acknowledged Tommy and all her scenes seem to be with Alfie not Kat like they're trying to make Mo & Alfie a little comedy, wheeler dealer pair. Kat needs Slater connections though so Jean and Mo are vital given there's no-one else slater-wise. They should have left Jean and Mo in the Slaters EVEN if it was just them two so Kat had somewhere else to go and have scenes rather than just fading into the Vic background  |
