My brother had some. Found out it wasn't worth the money. Not sure who it was with but they wanted £150 excess when quoted £20 when he washed it with his trousers and caused it to malfunction.

Who do you bank with. All my family get mobile phone insurance with our gold accounts. That's lloyds TSB, Natwest and RBS. There is an excess of £50 but that's if you need to claim. I touch wood have not had to but my hubby has. Got the money paid in to his account when he lost his phone

Lloyds however I just have a plain and simple current account so to upgrade to a Silver account is £7.49 a month.
I mainly need to be covered for loss as I am extrememly careful but dropped it in a taxi en route to the train station and the taxi company deny all knowledge I even got a taxi with them

Check your home insurance as well. There's a good chance you're covered for portable devices that are regularly removed from the house. We just had to provide Nationwide with the IMEI number of our phones and they confirmed full cover with minimal excess.

Here's a good article from MoneySavingExpert that you might find useful.
