A mobile phone on a suitable tariff
I know that mobile networks are re-introducing 12 month contracts because of Ofcom. But i am looking at the different network tariffs and o2 have changed their tariffs, so now they are more expensive.
I have been looking at the following mobile phones. HTC Desire HD HTC Desire S HTC Incredible S Samsung Galaxy S2 LG Optimus 2X Blackberry Bold 9780 I am thinking of going on an 18 or 24 contract. But i would really only need the following. 300 minutes - probably won't use that much. 250 - 300 texts. 500MB of internet - probably won't use that much. Any advice as to what network to choose? I would like to get the mobile phone free (if possible) or not with a big upfront cost. £30 p/m contract. Through the carphonewarehouse as some networks don't do certain phones directly through them. I know need to take a UK valid debit/credit, but what other documents to do the credit check? The carphonewarehouse as they do all the major networks, would i have to do a credit credit for each network individually? Thanks in advance. |

Three UK you can get those phones free with the One Plan. Prices for one plan vary depending on phone upto a maximum of £35pm.
What I did (which worked out cheapest overall cost) was buy my HTC HD7 for £380 and then use a giffgaff payg sim in it at £10/month. Total cost over two years is thus £620 which works out to an average of £25.83 a month. It also gives me extra flexibility (no contract), extra flexibility (can buy different bundles month-to-month), and lets me save on months when I'm not in the country and so I don't need to be paying anything. The last bit was important to me as I was considering going travelling and thus would be wasting money on a contract. Given you don't want an upfront cost, a long contract is the best option. |

Probably the best value today from the phones you mentioned is this deal Free HTC Desire HD + 300 mins + 300 texts + unlimited data £20/month over 24 months. Or you can have the same tariff on 18 months for£25/month. Desire HD £20 a month All the others you mentioned are available @ £20/month except the Galaxy S2 which starts at £30 with a free phone and the 2X which is £25.. To sign up you'll need a credit/debit card + 3 years UK address history + bank details for the direct debit. Cheers, Jon |
