Now we have BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD, which channel will be next?

I hope it will be BBC2 followed by Channel 5.

Which other channels would everyone like?

Is anyone in the know?

Some of the BBC2 channels are in HD on BBC HD. Maybe its not worth making a HD channel for BBC 2. Channel 5 HD is on Sky and VM already, with sky buying everything it can that's HD maybe it'll turn out like ITV2HD, ITV3HD and ITV4HD and we'll probably never get them.

I would like BBC HD to stay as it is, for repeats and genuine HD programmes, then have an extra BBC2 HD channel but i feel BBC HD will become BBC2 HD eventually

My guess is that BBC HD will stay as it is until another BBC HD channels starts up which will be BBC2 HD leaving BBC HD for just BBC3 and BBC4. At some point a further BBC HD channel will be launched and then we'll have a full set.

But I'm certainly not expecting any of this for some time.

C5 I could barely care less about.

Film4 HD would be very nice, though.

Might be nice if the BBC & ITV could manage 1920x1080.

Apart from NHK World HD which is as we know due in May,
I think and hope that the next to launch will be BBC2 HD.
Like Jepson I am not bothered about CH5.however at the end of the day I would rather have better programmes,
whether in SD or HD than umpteen HD channels full of dross!!

Five HD is a very poor effort. They don't even show the various CSI variants in HD. I guess they are no longer considered to be flagship material. It's a pity because as with most US HD material they look gorgeous. Most UK sourced stuff is so-so - although Lewis was good this time around.

That and a very witty script.

BBC 2 / 3 / 4 HD are years away yet. The Beeb said as much a while ago.

I agree. I watch programmes for their content. If they're in HD it's a bonus.

That's a pity. Would it have happened quicker without the credit crunch?

My guess would be more channels from the c4 stable ie film4 e4 and maybe more4. Maybe taking up the slots after c4hd.

This is based on the assumption that they will have a whole s2 transponder available on the new astra sat and have already shown they are willing to take a hd channel from sky's sat monopoly and go fta.

Obviously this is just an assumption and a touch of wishful thinking. But film4 hd makes a lot of sense on a free platform with (soon to be) a lot of new spare available bandwidth.

At least 2 years away.- I believe they said they will review the situation in 2013.

So the least time is one year and nine months.

But, anyway, I'd far rather they used the money to maintain the quality of programmes on BBC4 than waste it on rushing into HD when all it seems to get them is a slew of complaints.

I wish they would take more care in marking BBC4 programmes as repeats. How many times have I stared watching something then realising I have already seen it. But have I seen this programme before? Or have they reused some footage from another programme. I lose track.

I use 'Digiguide' which almost always has this information accurately.

I have more of a problem with programmes of which there have been multiple series where the descriptions are often very similar but where no series/episode number is given.
